it's a very crispy and light buttery cracker. can't think of a substitute, gimme a min. ok, try a ritz cracker, it's not the same, a ritz cracker is a bit more denser than a waverly cracker, but it will work in a substitution.

A Waverly cracker is pretty much the same as a Ritz. It's just a different shape.

It's the light, buttery kind as opposed a dry type like a saltine.

WAVERLY CRACKERS COOKIE

1 pkg. Waverly crackers
1/4 c. chopped pecans
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 c. sugar

Melt and heat together the butter and sugar and bring to a boil. Pour over the single layer of Waverly crackers spread on cookie sheet and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Let cool. Makes 4 dozen.

There is also a brand called Club Crackers that are the same. They are rectangle light colored and textured buttery crackers. Ritz are a little heavier and more dense.

You get them in packs with 2 sometimes at a salad bars. Was hoping that might trigger a memory of them.
