My windows media player keeps crashing tired of it.Should I download winamap any users out there that can answer this.

Winamp Is good . it can play only audio files with any extension.
But try to use windows media player because its more better than winamp coz it can play audio & video files of any extension in windows media player. Download Windows media player 11 beta. This setup is real good

WinAmp is the best player for playing MP3 files , it has a great and easy to use file manager and the play list is easy to use and allows you to insert whole directoreies as well as single files.
Plus you can get too many to even browse through skins and add on files.
Just try it and if you can't get on with it ,, what have you lost , besides a few minutes of your life ?
Trust me once you have it and found a good skin that you like , you will never look back

first of all try newer version of media player , like media player 11, it's very better than its old version and some of the bugs has been fixed.
try download it from www.microsoft.com.
im using Winamp too but i rather Microsoft Media Player 11

What are you talking about, Winamp is the top player for windows...for the normal user it's the best thing, free, really lightweight, extensionable, skinnable...why would you use the Microsoft media player anyway, it's just as bad as IE.
Do yourself a favour and get winamp.
And for movies, try bsplayer.

winamp is damn good
i use winamp for playing audio files
for video filesi use vlc player no need to add any extra plugins or anythign it supports almost all type of video and audio files
u can vlc player by searchign on google

You can use Winamp. It also plays more music and video formats. It is much better than Windows media player.
You can also try VideoLAN which can also play DVD movies.

the older version of winamp is very good and does not consume as much resources are the newer versions.

Personally I think winamp has got heavy on its memory usage.
If you want a light weight (small memory usage) application, you can try: foobar (http://www.foobar2000.org/). There are plugins and skins you can customize it to your liking.
