it tells me that I have to save it first as a file, but it already is!!

I'm doing it in paint because I am behind a firewall and a few other restrictions with my work and paint seems to be the only program that will allow me to change the desktop. And it doesn't change the desktop where my icons are. It changes the desktop that shows when my computer is locked.

It used to be that pictures had to be saves as .bmp files to be saved to desktop using Paint ... you might try saving as .bmp.

why ur trying to set a wallpaper in paint...
first save ur file in your harddisk then click on the my computer and go to the path that u save ur file then right-click on the file and select set as wallpaper...
