I'm guessing that girls who answer this question will be from all different parts of the world so it'll be good to get different views/faishons/ customs & tastes. I spend a lot of time in UK, France, Greece, Spain, Italy. so I generally sunbathe topless, or wear a nice bikini. I see pics of women in Brazil who wear thongs, they look so sexy. I might try this. I am going to USA soon.......what is the rules on beach wear there... I hear they are strict/prudes ?

In Florida (and I guess the rest of the USA) you must weat clothes, unless the beach is specifically a nude beach. Most people I see (central Florida) wear "normal" non-thong bikinis, although I have seen a FEW thongs/brazilian cut bottoms.

In general people in the US are more "prudish" than the rest of the world when it comes to showing off their bodies. I wouldn't walk around topless on a beach here, although most bikini tops are ok.

Go to a surf shop. Not only is this a chance to go shopping, but what they sell there is the norm in beach fashion.

There are a lot of young kids at the beach, and there parents there as well. The wives won't want to see their children and husbands hanging around a scantily clad woman. So I reccomend just a regular bikini, no thong and avoid strapless bikinis I find they are a bit revealing. Myself I usually wear some shorts and a tank over my bikini then just strip off the shorts if i'm only playing in the sand and strip of the tank and shorts if i swim.

Topless is certainly a no-no, unless it's a clothing optional beach. Some counties (especially in Florida and elsewhere in the south) have laws that dictate how much fabric/material a bathing suit must be made of - i.e. no postage stamp tops, no thong bottoms.

You'd be best off bringing a variety of beachwear and seeing what's allowed in the specific locations you plan to visit.

It depends on the beach. On some beaches in Florida, I would wear a thong and usually take off my top. Other beaches though, I would jsut wear a Brazilian cut bikini. When I was in Mexico, I wore just a g-string.

Can't speak for USA, but don't do topless in Brazil!

They wear the smallest bikinis possible, but actually going topless will get use hissed at, and if your really unlucky assaulted, by the locals.

Skimpy yes. Topless = disrespectful.
