Yes, they only have thier testicles removed, not thier penis. I have known several neutered dogs who still mount and get stuck to female dogs.... it is not uncommon especially in dogs who were neutered at an older age.

Don't listen to the person above who says it is not normal they really have no clue..... I have lived with over 14 dogs in my life and many of the altered males and females still have interest in mating behaviour and still get stuck with other dogs and perform all the same behaviour an unaltered dog does. This is the number one reason I tell people altering a dog WILL NOT change thier behaviour, and it has been proven to me many times. A male dog I lived with was just as obsessed with a female in heat as other unaltered dogs and he regularly mated with and got stuck with the unaltered female living in the same house, in fact he was so bad we had to keep him on a leash to stop him from harrassing the female..... funny the reason they got him fixed was to stop this behaviour (which the vet assured them it would) but it had no effect on the dogs behaviour because he had already learned it. In contrast, I have an unaltered male dog who has no clue what do do with a female dog and has never tried to mount one..... because I don't let him experience it so... You can't miss what you dont know about.

Females Mating With Dogs

Woah, what are you people talking about?

Mating....Mounting: two different behaviors!

Mating involves actual penetration (tieing on, etc...) and a neutered male should not be able to do this and shouldn't have any interest in trying.

Mounting (humping), however is a total other ball of wax. Mounting is a social behavior among dogs and has nothing to do with sex. Female dogs mount other females, males mount males, altered males and females mount each other. It is a way dogs try to figure out who's dominant and who's not. It's not the same as mating or sex.

Seriously, if you don't know the answer, don't answer the question.

Yes a neutered male can mate and tie with a female BUT the female will not get pregnant.

He should have no interest in mating unless he was just neutered within the last 6 months. He'd still have hormones running around his system.
Are you sure he is trying to mate? Could he just be trying to dominate?

yes it is. He can still mate and tie with a female in heat. He can have some fun without making some unwanted pups.

Alot of dogs will still hump legs or other dogs, but the female won't get pregnant.

Yep! Just because the "jewels" are gone doesn't mean that he doesn't still smell the hormones that the females put out when they are "in heat". He still thinks he can make puppies.
