It varies from person to person actually. You cant generalize it. Mostly people say that you need about 7-8 hours. But I've come accross people who can do perfectly well with only 3-4 hours. You need to figure out your own routine. Sleep for 6 hours one night then observe how you feel the next morning, increase you're sleeping time by one hour until you wake up one morning feeling absolutely fresh.
For some people, like me, I need 5 hours sleep at night and then at least an hour's sleep after 3 in the afternoon.
So you'll have to work this part out yourself as to how much sleep your body needs.

It depends if your a kid or not. An adult needs 7-8 hours and kids need about 10.

atleast 8-10 hours also choose a routine you will sleeep really late if you stay up most of the night because your body needs that much rest
