You can get tablets that are great and do not make you drowsy. Ask your pharmacist for the ones that do not make you drowsy. I suffer from it and now never have problems anymore, I pop one an hour before traveling and all goes well. Ginger also helps, but not 100% effective, especially when there is very bad turbulence.

drammamine makes a less drowsy version you might want to try... Although, I do like to sleep on the plane.

Taking ginger can help (like tea) and also dramamine (but causes drowsiness).
