My brother was living with me and my wife for a year and brought his 2 cats with him. Now that he is gone, we have had to tear out some drywall from the basement that was ruined by cat urine. The concrete floor in the area is still reeking of urine... is there anything special we can do? Pine-sol isn't helping and neither is clorox....

We have a cat who, as he's gotten a little older, has been occasionally "missing" the litter box in our garage, urinating on the concrete floor instead. Concrete is absorbent, so it's tough. After soaking up the urine with newspaper/ paper towels, we spray the area well with Lysol to disinfect, then with a product called Zero Odor to eliminate the smell. It works not by masking the odor, but by absorbing it and then evaporating; non-toxic, and works better than any other product we've tried. (It eliminates urine smell, garbage odor, kitchen sink disposal odor, my mother-in-law's perfume, etc.) Hope this helps.

See if you can find a clear concrete sealer. I know on hard wood the only way to get rid of the smell is to bleach it and reseal it with varnish or polyurethane. So a sealer may do the trick if bleach isn't. Also check your pet store, they sell a product called odor mute which is actually for skunk odor. It has a natural enzyme that works very well on urine odor.

Don't use any harsh cemicals it mixes with the amonia in the cats urine and can cause a bad mix, you know how they say din't mix cemicals well thats the same thing.Use something non-toxic at first to clean the area then Zero oder or something like that...Good luck and BE safe...

I can't believe Clorox doesn't work. Look for a chemical supply company, they may sell the 13% stronger chlorine, the stuff the pressure washing guys use. That has to work.

Nature's Miracle, if this doesn't work, buy a concrete cleaner from the hardware store. There are several types, some are biodegradable, some are more harsh and contain acid. Then, install vinyl tiles.
