I had the same problem. You sound like an ectomorph, a person who is just inclined to be thinner than average. It took years but what finally worked for me, personally, was to start eating more rounded meals. By that I mean that I made sure to eat healthy foods but that all food groups were represented in each sitting. Sandwiches are a quick and great way to achieve this in a rush. Also, drink whole milk and try to get more protein in your diet. Any good, basic foods you avoid right now you should consider adding to your diet. You should definately focus on strength training right now as opposed to aerobics. Anytime you do gain and need to tone up, as an ectomorph you can just do vigourous stretching and you'd look fit. Don't worry, it will happen for you. I have listed a website below that talks about ectomorphs and what they reccommend. Just keep trying different things and you will find what works for you.

Hey, providing some more information would be helpful. Information like age, body type, male/female... (I'll assume female).
Just the same to gain weight in a healthy manner, try 1) Working out with weights and less aerobic work outs. If you do a lot of aerobic activities you will burn more calories requiring you to consume more. If you metabolism is high you will also need to consume more to gain weight. If you are naturally skinny (like me when I was a little younger) you have better luck adding muscle to gain weight (which is better!). If you are younger... you may have a harder time gaining weight. 2) No sugar or sugary items except for fruit. 3) Eat whole foods, eat meats, protein rich foods, etc. 4) Drink milk and juice 5) eat more often 6) Consume more calories :) 7) If you are awake and not working out, eat...
8) If you are healthy and young don't worry about it yet.
Best of luck

Metabolism is WAY TOO FAST! Don't eat a lot of junk food, that may cause problems and won't necessarily make you gain weight. Drink a lot of protein shakes and eat healthy protein snacks with carbs. Gain mass, not weight...
