i got MONO!!!! wat can i do to make me feel BETTER???? help meeee!?

my mom keeps makin take nyquil but i think shes just trynna knock me out so i can shutup.

bad idea.

hydration to the max works.. i drank gallons of gatoraid when i had epstein barr. lots of fruit juices too.

tons of vitamins... and i forced myself to eat as often as i could. it helped.. i still felt like dying but anything to keep your body strong as possible.

and rest.. put on some cartoons and movies.. just lay back, yer sick as a dog! have them pamper you and that nyquil is just going to make you dehydrated.

oh when you get a hunger for something, eat it.. that sure helps alot too. mom should be helping out a bit here.. lets say you get hungry for chocolate.. pudding, candy.. (i had the problem with epstein barr) i ate it sure did help tons.

along with much chicken soup..

too much meds that don't do anything just make things worse. are you on any antibiotics?

mono is serious stuff, you should be on something.

what is MOM doing for you while you're sick like this? mono isn't anything to just play around with.. mono can cause liver damage. and with nyquil to top that off... i'm scared for you.

I had mono years ago, and it hit me real hard. I felt I might die, but my doctor assured me that mono was not fatal. The acute phase of the disease lasted about 2 weeks, but I felt out of sorts off and on for months afterwords. During the acute phase, while I was bedridden, I lost 8 pounds. My white cell count went crazy, shooting up and then crashing more than once.

Mono is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, and since it is viral, there is no medicine you can take that will hasten your recovery. The virus attacks the white cells, a component of your immune system. Just get plenty of bed rest (you will need no encouragement in this regard) and be thankful you have people who will nurse you back to health.

If I recall correctly, something like 95% of adults test positive for antibodies to the E-B virus, which means they were exposed to the virus that causes mono at some point during childhood or adolescence. In some people, the disease is nearly asymptomatic, maybe like getting a mild cold, in others it's symptoms are severe. But not fatal.

Wait. You have mono and your mother is giving you Nyquil that has alcohol in it? Is she trying to kill you? There is no medication for Mono. Let it run its course.

But what your mother is doing will never let you recover from it, she is adding more depressants to your body that is trying to get rid of all the depressants, so to speak.

My family and I had mono for three months. Sometimes it stays around for a shorter or longer time then that. You need to stay in bed and rest. Unfortunately that is all you can do to get better. Let your mom give you medicine she has the right idea. If you try to be active it will take longer for you to get better. Good luck I know how you feel right now.

Nasty disease that needs to run it's course. You should be on drugs from your doctor to help you sleep and make you more comfortable. Nyquil won't help much because the alcohol in it is very drying to your body and you need to stay hydrated.
