I have no idea, my moms cat is doing the same thing. The best way to get the smell out is put some vinegar and water(half and half) in a spray bottle and spray area and wipe clean. Repeat if necessary.

Possibly a urinary tract infection (UTI) as noted above. Not serious, but you do need to see a vet and get her on antibiotics, if that is the case.

Scenario 2: Is she getting older and/or obese? And is she urinating more frequently and drinking a lot more water? If so, it could be feline diabetes. If so, she needs to see a vet immediately. I realize this may sound alarmist, but our older cat (10 1/2 yrs, gained 4 lbs. in a year) was diagnosed last year after he started urinating outside the litter box, and more frequently. Diabetes may sound extreme (we panicked), but it is VERY TREATABLE and your cat can continue to live a long a healthy life. If you are interested in more information before seeing a vet, check out the sites below. Hope this helps.

wash the area with warm water, and apply biz, then spray Lysol. if the smell does not come out by night time, get Simple Solution Cat Spray & Urine Stain & Odor Remover from petco, and spray that on the stain.

about your cat- is she less than 1 year? she may have had an accident.

there is also the big possibility of FUS (Feline Urological Syndrome), which can include such conditions as cystitis, blockage of the urethra, and urethritis, can all cause your kitty great pain when urinating or trying to urinate. FUS happens to adult cats, so take your cat the vet right away, just in case she truly does have it.

You are right. You can't have her doing that. The #1 reason for any inappropriate urination is a bladder infection or crystals that causes urination to be painful. Take her to the vet immediately and rule out that possibility

Go to: www.littlebigcat.com. Dr Jean Hovfe has four articles there on litterbox, inappropriate urination there. Read through them for clues as to why your cat is doing this.

One thing I do know from experience is that cats do this as a cry for help. They absolutely KNOW this will get your attention and they need your help.

Maybe her age or Did something happen to make her upset? Like a boyfriend or new pet. Staying out and not paying attention to her. Or watch how much your kitty uses the litter box. If they get stones they feel constantly like they have to urinate but due to the blockage they will only pass small amounts, about the size of a dime. Often when they have stones, they will go outside the litter box as well. Usually, if a very good kitty goes outside the litter box, something is wrong either medically or emotionally.

Seeing as how your cats brain is smaller then yours it probably works faster so the cat is probably smarter then you and is trying to give you a messege or make you do something the trick is to figure out what that msg is. I personaly believe human beings have brains not to small but not to big just right to mess everything up lol.

Take her to the vet, she may have a urinary tract infection. Cats sometimes stop using the litter box with this because they associate it with pain.

she may have a medical condition - UTI

they sell an assortment of cleaning fluids at the pet store for that problem, although w/ unholstery you may want to dilute immediately w/ water and a sponge.

first how old is the cat ,,,second most times when the cat start having bladder control issues it is caused because it is sick, either bladder infection or kidney diease, you should take your cat to the vet neither is something to play with they can both be very detramental to your cats health!!
