Try "Quicktime Alternative".. downloadable at www.k-lite.tk in the CODECs section

Windows ME is perhaps the WORST Windows operating system ever made. I have a computer-related motto, that is relevant for those people who upgrade their OS, to cure growning problems - "Whatever your problem.....Windows ME is NOT the answer".

You may be far better off with something else - I would even use Win-98SE rather than using ME. In fact, I would get my copy of DOS 3.3 out of my floppy disk box & use THAT, rather than ME.
