I'm guessing that you're in Australia. If so, the age of consent is either 16 or 17 depending on the territory. So, if you two have a sexual relationship, he could be in big trouble if your parents or someone else decided to push it.
That said, I think friendship is a wonderful place to start a serious, loving relationship. It could be the best thing that ever happened to you. Go for it.

Of course it's OK for you to like him, you can't help the way you feel but he's abviously a good person as he refuses to take advantage of a young girl. Understand where he is coming from, if you two did get into a relationship he could get done for statutory rape and end up in prison. Keep him as a friend, he will be valuable to you, if any guys your age show interest in you, he'd be a great person to go to for advice if you're stuck as to what to do as you know he's a honest person. And maybe when you're 18 (I know it seems ages away but it'll fly believe me) if you still like him then you can make your feelings clear.
BTW I'm not that much older than you but did make the mistake of being with an older person at your age, it might seem like fun but he's done a lot of the things you will want to do and that sux!!!
You'll be fine, just stay friends, and start eyeing up the guys your age..... their much less hairy (no stubble rash if you kiss them!) anyway ;-)

Like him, but know u may not have a chance, so whats the point?Instead put ur energy into someone who will like u back. Maybe u going out with another guy will make him look at u, and make him think damn, I missed out! Who knows. PS, I dont see why this guy wont consider giving under 18 girls a chance if their mature, and smart, he sounds kinda shallow, but I guess he doesnt wanna catch a criminal charge if u know what I mean, so he may be smart.( u know how some girls parents can be if their dating a older guy)

You can like him all you want, but don't expect anything in return until you are 18. This guy sounds like he has a level head and has learned that he can carry around a criminal record for life as a sex predator for going out with a girl under 18 if your parents decided to press charges. Sorry, but it's true.

Yes, it's ok to like him. You'll be 18 sooner than you both realize. And then he'll be a lucky guy, if you still want him. If he's smart, he should be telling you that he'll wait for you to turn 18. A little investment, on his part now, will go a long way the rest of his life.

Its OK to like him, nothing wrong with that and you said you have already known him for 8 years chances are you will still be talking to him when you are 18, so hopefully when you are legal things can go from there and you may be able to establish a relationship with him then!!!

Yes it is normal for you to like him every girl have that crush on an older guy. As far as you too dating he is right because with so much stuff going on talking to a minor is a easy access to jail.
My b/f is four years older than me. The difference is that I'm 19 and he's 23. I'm legal wait until you are a little older.
There are nice sweet guys your age too

Yeah it's fine for you to like him, but if he said that he wouldn't go out with a girl under 18, just be careful you don't end up heartbroken or scare him off.

Its ok for you to like him until your 16. But it sounds as though he doesn't think that way about you which means its really not worth pursuing.Besides it is true what they say its far better to have a great mate any day! He sounds like a responsible guy and you should respect that.

of course its ok to like him but do you really want to go out with this guy?? obviously he doesn't want to go out with girls under 18 but even if he did, 4 years is a big gap. even tho it doesnt seem like it, 19 is OLD compared to 15. he's done with high school, you're just starting. he's almost allowed to drink, you've got like half of your life until you're allowed. he's probably had at least 4 serious girlfriends. what about you?? think VERY CAREFULLY before you decide that you'd say yes if he asked you out. other than that, it's fine to like whoever you want.
