I like most reds, especially Cabernets (steak) and Syrahs and Shirrazes (Italian with meat sauce). Merlot is kind of insipid. Zinfandels can go with either of the above, too. I like a Pinot Noir with heartier chicken dishes. In whites, I prefer a Pinot Grigio, and I drink that with all light meals, such as salads, lighter chicken dishes, dishes with cream sauces.
I agree with whomever said Coppola. I may not care for Nick Cage, but his uncle Frankie makes an inexpensive but good red table wine. I especially like the Coppola Rosso.

I like all types of wine but I am really fond of some local wineries in my area. I typically purchase local wines of all types.
There is a Sweeter white wine in particular called Niagara and it is from the Foxburg Winery in Western, PA. I pair it with any "non-red" meat from the grill.

I like a nice dry red wine. The Barolos and Amerones from Italy are great (but expensive!)
I've found a couple of good red table wines for around $10 each (Italian) that go great with pasta!!!
