I am very regular about the time of day and her activity she has been at least calm for 2 hours prior to taking it. She is stringing when she urinates so I know the babies will be coming, but this is HER first litter and trying to make sure the rise is not a warning sign. All comments are well received. Thank you in advance

The temp drops about 12-24 hours prior to whelping. The next thing to look for is when she goes to poop, you are looking for "mustard yellow" poop. That is her gut cleaning itself out. Once that happens, do not leave her side. Put on some coffee, you are in for a long night!! Good luck.

Her temp in the evening and her temp in the morning are like comparing apples and oranges. It needs to be taken with consistency, as it can fluctuate quite a bit at different times of the day depending on what she is doing.

It should be taken in the morning before she has had a chance to get up and move around and in the evening after being crated and sleeping for a couple hours. Without consistency temps mean nothing. A temp drop can be easy to miss as some bitches temps will only drop for a few hours.

This is not to comment on how YOU are doing it, I really don't know. Just some info for you!

My advice to you is get the nest box ready, before she makes a nest in the middle of your bed, and has her puppies. Don't you think she is going through enough without you sticking a thermometer into her every day? lol If she doesn't have a puppy every 20 minutes - 1/2 hour call the vet immediately. Good luck to you, and congrats to the new mommy.
