I have a rainbow lorikeet and it is a real stinker! Lorikeets are not the best companion birds since they don't like to perch and generally don't like to cuddle. You have to speak firmly to it, scold it. Check out www.thebirdwhisperer.com. I'd wrap your bird in a towel to move it from cage to perch. You need to dominate and control the bird, firmly and kindly. Any parrot can be a companion to your lorikeet IF the lorikeet will accept it. My lorikeet shares a cage with a Jenday Conure. (conures are very noisy). Try an Indian Ringneck.

I found this on a different form posted by a breeder it was in regard to biting - the bird they were taking about was tame but not that friendly and a year - but it might help you and maybe it's the age thing like the 2nd paragraph says: "I've been breeding and keeping rainbow lorikeets for quite a few years and they are challenging birds! The best solution to the problem you have is time. Two forms of time actually in my experience. The first is time-out. This is the best method of teaching a lory what is and isn't acceptable behaviour. There is nothing they hate more than being returned to their cage or stand when they are having fun! As soon as you little guy starts being aggressive you need to get him back to his cage and completely ignore him for at least 10 minutes. It doesn't take long for the penny to drop that it is the unacceptable behaviour that is causing this reaction and consequence. Any attempt to modify the behaviour with catching hold of the beak, tapping the feet, or any other of the many 'cures' I have heard about will result in bleeding and lory laughter! Screaming and making a fuss also elicits the lory laugh as this is just what he is aiming for. What could be more fun? If he bites, or even looks like he's going to bite then he goes back to his cage (or whatever) and is ignored for a period of time that you dictate. It does work but you have to be absolutely ruthless and completely consistent in your behaviour if you want to modify his behaviour. The second time thing I'm talking about is the age. You have a teen on your hands! He is feeling his way and pushing the boundaries. It's your job to show him where those boundaries are. 1 year old lories are like 15 year old kids in attitude and 2 year old kids in intelligence (NOT a good mix!!!). You need to be a good example and what you do now (and over the next few months) will make all the difference to the sort of bird you get for the next 20+ years. Be firm, be staunch and be loving."

Lories should only be kept with other lories due to their diet.
When they reach 2 or 3 they bite more. It's maturity. Try not to react--the more entertaining you are when he bites, the more he'll bite you. Some can't be broken of the habit. I had a beautiful red-rainbow hybrid I raised from an egg who was the sweetest little girl. When she turned 3 she started to bite us viciously. She had no problem sitting on my head or shoulder or arm but if I tried to remove her with my hand, forget it.. She had a mate--her younger brother--and they laid plenty of infertile eggs together so that wasn't it. I still loved her dearly even though our relationship changed, and haven't gotten over losing her this year at age 15.

blow on his face. the rush of air up the nose holes will cause him to release his grip. do not reward him with a treat, because then he will think in order to get the treat, he just needs to bite you.
