Have you looked at a book called "Curly Girl"? She has some techniques for cutting curly hair that you could take with you and share with the stylist to get a nice unbutchered cut. It talks about cutting the hair dry and cutting in the s of the curl to get the best cut. (I always hated it when they cut my bangs too short and they zipped up my forehead!) It took me forever and flat-out asking people at the mall whose hair I thought looked great to find a hairdresser who knew what she was doing, and she has curly hair herself... If you see someone whose hair is simply wonderful, don't be afraid to ask them who they go to, they'd probably love to share the information with you after such a nice compliment.

I'm working on growing out my curls so that I can do more with them, now that I've got my bangs grown out. I think a shoulder length style has alot of potential for being worn so many different ways, provided you keep some weight down with layers, else you might look like rosanne rosanadana.

As another reviewer suggested, look at the naturally curly website. It has lots of great info as well as some pictures of people's curly hair.
