The word 'mass' means 'a body of coherent matter' , or a bunch of stuff that takes up space. Length is a linear measurement, or how long something is, which is only a part of the measurement of the whole thing, since there is also width and height.
If you have a liquid it takes up space, or has mass, and you can put it in a container like a cup or bottle and see how much space it takes up. There are amounts that are called pints, quarts, gallons, cups, and for dry things there are pints, bushels, quarts and so on.
If you have a thing that has mass it will also have height, length and width. Height is how far up it goes, length is usually the longest across, and width across teh other way. You can take a pint of blueberries and put them all in a line and then measure to see how long that line is, for example.

Mass in what space it might take to "hold" a Pint. Length would only relate in the distances, already determined on a measuring cup or other container, for example.
Have you ever heard,,,How Long is a Pint? OR rather HOW much is a PINT?
