It's an interesting speculation. If it's true, then it follows that we are already living in a simulated universe. The concept aligns with ideas being formed regarding quantum computing - which basically conclude that the universe already has infinite computing potential.
Religious nuts will no doubt take the concept out of context and try to use it as proof that god exists and thus you should tithe and homosexuality is a sin, etc., without realizing that the implication of such a theory is basically Deism.
