It's happened many times before, but this time she is squirting blood everywhere. seems like i severed an artery, but i know that's not the case.
How do i clean her up once the blood has solidified on her feathers? perhaps running water over her while the blood is still wet might help?

hey, DRILLO... umm the bleeding kinda stopped by itself, but a couple of dabs of corn flour probably did the trick.
mate you're a genius. don't let anyone ever call you otherwise. if someone says DRILLO is dumb as mud i will defend you and say it's an even draw.

Typically that's a broken blood feather. If it's bleeding that bad it means that it broke and some of it is still there.

Find the broken feather and pull it out. To do this be VERY careful. Hold the bird firmly, but not too tight. then grip the shaft as close to the bird as possible and pull it out. Needlenose pliers work well for this.

If you tried and can not find where the blood feather is then you can also use Stiptic Gel. Stiptic Gel helps the blood clot so the bird won't continue bleeding. Birds don't have alot of blood and can die if not treated quickly.

If the bird is no longer bleeding and you want to clean the blood just spray him with a misting bottle. He'll clean himself. Do not run water over the bird while he is still bleeding. Let it clot first.

It's just broken a blood feather, which you said you are familiar with happening. The best thing to do really is to put a bowl of water in there and your tiel will clean it on it's own. My tiels often do this as well..tiels are prone to night terrors...they'll just freak out and start flailing around the cage. I think they see a shadow outside or something and get scared. I put a bowl of water in and they take a bath and clean themselves up just fine.
Good luck.

Believe it or not peroxide will help reduce the possibilty of infection then take your bird directly to the vet...birds freak out very easily and will die due to stress.

Good Luck

You need to get her to an Avian vet immediately, birds are very fragile, and cannot lose a lot of blood.
