I have a very good computer programme called Learn to Speak Spanish by a company called The Learning Company it is a 5 Cd-Rom set which includes a workbook and Audio CD you will need to ensure that you have a microphone connected to your Computer because one of the things you do while learning is speak to the computer and the the programe rates how well you are speaking the language. If that is no good Collins do a very good phase book but of course you don't know how well you are speaking it. I would also recommend that you take holidays in Spain to practise the language if that is not possible try Spanish Restaurants

The best way to learn a language is to live it. If at all possible, you should try to spend some time in a Spanish-speaking country. Otherwise, you can find free courses on the internet or you could purchase a book and cd set. I would recommend having lots to listen to cos the pronunciation is very important when starting to learn a language.

I used to teach Spanish so here is my answer: listen to lots of Spanish news, music tv etc... If I was you I wouldn't go to Spain without any knowledge of the language. The most difficult thing to learn about spanish is the to be verb and also getting your "hearing" used to the language......... remember spanish goes the other way around so for example we say a beautiful house instead of the house beautiful. I hope this help.

The easiest way is to go to a Spanish-speaking country and live there; immerse yourself totally. Take a course to learn the basics but hang uot with Spanish-speaking people. DON'T go with a student group that puts more than one non-Spanish-speaker in a household or you will defeat the purpose because we tend to hang together with people who talk like us; it's easier!
I learned more Spanish in my housemother's kitchen than I did in all the classes I took because there was no choice but to learn in order to talk to her. She also taught me to cook!

i lived in spain for 2 years and found the best ways were to only speak to spanish people and find a spanish girlfriend. the spanish find this practice respectful and will try their best, 1 of my friends insisted he spoke english and i spanish that way we both learned each others language. by learning this way we learnt local slang rather than text book style.
1 of the funniest experiences was a spanish expression, 'de puta madre' literally meaning, of whore mother. i found out this meant something was really good !
also whilst we say ' it's raining cats and dogs' they say 'its rainning frogs'. there's loadsa things you can only learn by mixing with the natives.
try it it's great fun

Everyone is saying move there- great idea. But... if you are unable to do that, Immerse yourself as much as possible in the language. Watch spanish T.V. Listen to spanish music. Ask friends or family that know the language to use it around you. It is a fun language that I hope you'll enjoy. Good luck
