Is it possible for us girls to share with your mom as we do with our girl-friends. Our moms take care of us through out their life's and some of us always maintain distance from them, but like we take care of our friends cand we take care of our mom's too. Can there be a relationship thats beyond that of a mother and daughter? like going clubbing, telling your mom about your life happiness and sorrows, telling her about everything and then listening to her issues and helping her with her life too?

I am very blessed, my mom is like my best friend. Only 1 difference. My best friend from high school - we can talk about ANYTHING - if you know what I mean. My mom and me can talk about sex in general terms - ... but I will say she has given me some of the best advice in that area (in a general way). Also, I will say my mom gives me good (life) advise and shows real concern when I tell her about my problems. She will tell me her problems too, but I think she holds back sometimes so as not to worry me. But overall we are very open with each other. We go out for coffee and talk for a long time. We go shopping, walking, and go to the park too. Sometimes she is like a mom too, she will always pay for my lunch if we go out and buy me things - cuz she knows money's tight. She sat with me for 12 hours when I went in the hospital for an emergency situation - and she was a real comfort to me. But we didn't become really close until I moved out on my own - and then we were both on the adult level.
She only lives a mile away and it is nice - we call each other and see each other every week.

I think so. Can you think of anyone who knows you better? She has seen you through highs & lows your whole life. She knows exactly where you are coming from. My mom & I weren't very close when I was a pre-teen & teen but now that I'm out on my own we have a bond that's stronger than ever. I've experienced some of the trials & bumps in the road that she went through and I think that gave me a better understanding of where she was coming from when we would have arguments. Just remember that your mother truly loves you and there isn't anything that can break that bond. I don't live in the same city as my mom anymore and that really sucks. I wish we were closer so we could do all of the fun things we always cram into weekend visits year-round. I think that if you are honest with her then yes, your mom can be the best friend you'll ever have.

Yes, but like most thing's it happens when you mature and realize that she has always been your best friend. We argued a lot when I was younger and she did a lot of things I didn't approve of and we had no communication between us but I still learned valuable lessons from her especially about things I didn't want to go through. Even when I complained about mom I always knew that there was no one that I was closer to and I have always known that she would give her life for me.

My mom is no longer here but we spent the last 12 years of her life today when she moved in with me. We became very close friends and talked about everything and no subject was off limits and I finally realized what unconditional love means.

I miss you mom!

My Mom is, now that I'm an adult. We fought (argued) a lot when I was a teenager. But now we're best buds. We are always there for each other, we have both helped each other through some pretty tough stuff. It is great to have a mom and a best friend all in one.

no, it is not possible. There is a thing called motherly love, and it is too different from the love you feel for your friends. There are things that you just cannot tell your mother because of that reason, because your love for each other is too strong, and no matter what, you are still the child, and she is still the adult, no matter if you're 18 or 81. You can have a relationship that is SIMILAR to that of a friendship, but it isn't the same thing.

I think it's possible, but that depends on how open your relationship is. If you can tell your mom about the gut your going out with and all the details then I think that's awesome. But some moms don't really want to know.

i think you can but there has to be line between friend and mom. some are too confiding and some mothers like that their daughters are confiding in them, they dont want to stand up when it comes to something important, scared that they might sound like the bad guy. mothers an be friends and parents at the same time just be careful.

I don't see why not. My mother is also my best friend and we have a very happy, healthy relationship. We fight like all mothers and daughters but when it comes right down toit we are there for each other no matter what.
