"Vernors" was formulated in 1862 by James Vernors in Detroit, MI. He was a very fastidious man, putting quality control over marketing so that it spread from MI very slowly. It carries a fabulous reputation, but marketing still has not caught up, even though it has passed ownership through various beverage companies. It is currently owned by Dr Pepper/Seven Up company. You can call them directly to ask why at 1-800-696-5891. Please do, because it sounds as though I am missing something special.

Vernor's is great! They have it in Michigan where I grew up but I can't get it in Minnesota where I live now. It is one of those drinks that reminds me of home.....
I have read that Mark Fidrych (the Famous Detroit Tiger) still has Vernors shipped to him out in Massachusetts because he can't get it there.
I wish I knew why it isn't available everywhere.
I would also tell people that Vernor's is alot stronger flavored than Canada Dry or Schwepps.
