It probably should be called a beef burger, but it's because of where it originated from, Hamburg, Germany. It's the hot dog that I wonder about. I wonder why a hot dog is called a hot "dog" but it contains no dog.

The guy who invented it was actually selling meatballs OR not selling meat balls so he flattened the ball out and placed it between 2 pieces of bread and for some reason called them HAMburgers.
