I'm assuming you'd like a legitimate answer, and this is not just a rhetorical whine....

I asked my techogeek husband why Yahoo was doing such a poor job of monitoring the board, since there were so many truly appalling postings showing up. He told me that there had been several slander suits that had been decided *against* providers that had aggressively proactively monitored postings, the attitude being "well, if you were monitoring, you should have stopped it". By responding to user-triggered complaints, providers can be a little bit safer by stating they are just responding to demands.

I had not reported anyone until my answer to someone got reported and it was remove because it was considered idle cat, that's stupid I think.

So I started to report others. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander or something like that.

I've never reported anyone, don't waist my time, but I can understand why some people do.

Some questions don't deserve to be answered, or even asked.

You're mama was wrong...some questions are too stupid to ask.

Depends on the person asking and the question, sometimes I report, sometimes I just ignore.

I've only reported links to pornographic sites, and pornographic images. Children are allowed to visit this website, and that's completely inappropriate.

best wishes

Some people don't like tip toeing thru all the perverted questions.

Depends on the question.
If it is sufficiently stupid enough (like this one), I'll answer it.
However, if it is vile, obscene, derogatory and/or demeaning to religion, race or ethnicity, then it violates the Yahoo! standards...not to mention society standards.

This is a Yahoo! board.
You and I joined it willingly...when we signed on, we agreed to the terms as set forth by Yahoo!.
If you don't like it, start your own online service.
And that is what freedom is all about!
