i would say the average couple makes love at least 4-5 times a week more then one time a day.

4 - 5 times a week when they are in their 20's; 2 - 3 times in their 30's; 1 - 2 times in their 40's; 1 - 2 times a month in their 50's; 1 per month in their 60's; 4 - 5 times a year in their 70's

Average is such a hard standard to predict.
I would say that once or twice a week would be sufficient. But remember life can get in the way sometimes. Being too exhausted, sick, etc.
What is normal for you, and comfortable for the both of you, is your average.

When I had a man, I preferred to make love at least three times a week and that's when I was cutting him some slack because his job was harder than mine and he was on his feet all day.
