It causes birth weights to be lower and increases the chances of pregnancy complications like placenta previa, but there is no definitive link to any specific birth defect. If there were a true cause and effect, then much of our population would be running around with serious defects, because in the 1950s and 60s up to 30% of women of childbearing age smoked and there was no recommendation against it.
If you stop now, and that is an excellent plan, and you don't ever start again, you can be expected to have a life expectancy equal to the remainder of the population. Remember, life expectancy tables include smokers also.
By ten years after you quit smoking, almost all the damage that was done has been repaired. There will never be a better time for you to quit. You know you can do this. If you need a reminder when you are pregnant, imagine in your mind someone holding a lit cigarette in a premature baby's mouth and forcing them to inhale. Pretty gross!

There person can live as long as anyone. Everyone doesnt get sick, it just increaes the risk

ahh I don't think anyone really knows that question but it was said... I really can't remember by who. But it is said that a cigarette takes an average of 5-7 minutes off your life. So thats one year off your life ever 3754 packs.
