Need phone numbers for Fort Hood JAG or Fort Lewis JAG

My husband a soldier hit me. While he was blacked out and broke my face bad enough I had to have a plate put in my face. I will have trouble with it for the rest of my life and will continue to have to go to the doctors. In a few weeks he will not have insurance on me and other insurance companies will not take this case because it is a previous thing. So the military needs to pay for my medical insurance for the rest of my life for my face. Since it was a soldier that did it.

Actually, the military doesn't need to pay your medical insurance the rest of your life. If you're divorcing him or already divorced, you're not entitled to any military privileges. Only the children receive coverage after a divorce and that's all the soldier is responsible for.

If you feel that you're entitled to more, which it sounds like you are even though we don't know the whole story, you'll have to sue him. You'd have to take it to court and prove that you need to be compensated for life.

Good luck!!

technically since you are divorcing (right) then you will no longer be covered under Tricare. They only cover the immediate spouses. I'd say you are going to have to take legal action against him, and make him pay out of his pocket. Start with Tricareonline. com?I believe is the site. They can give you specific info. then just do a broad search for those bases I don't have the numbers off hand sorry. Once you find the site they all have directories of numbers. But a piece of advice... Don't go through Jag. Sure they are a great assest if you are in the Army, but their first and foremost concern is the soldier. Try to find a civilian attorney who specializes in medical insurance, or at the least military law.
Update: I'm sorry i misread your question!! I thought you said while you were blacked out! So start with tricare, then do a broad search for the bases. Again so sorry!!

Sorry, since you are divorcing him, then Tricare Coverage will NOT apply anymore, and you can not be reinstated, only any children out of the marriage will remain covered as long as they are dependents of the Military Sponsor (Servicemember).

As part of the divorce, you will need to have your attorney require him to provide separate coverage for the injuries for life (as long as they are proven to have resulted from the battering of you by him) as a result of the assault -- and that MUST be done by your attorney BEFORE the divorce is final. This insurance will be separate and distinct from the Military Health Care system -- and MUST remain so.

(You did not mention if the person is now in custody or under investigation -- for if so, that person's Military time will be limited, and most likely, he won't be in the Military Much longer, so it makes everything a moot point anyway).

This is NOT a military thing -- this is the problem of having an abusive spouse. Abusers are in the Civilian community too -- and many ex's have to deal on an everyday basis with an abuser in their lives. It saddens me that so many think that they can blame the 'Military' for the problems that are associated with actions that are NOT related to the duty requirements -- and Clearly, you are NOT on duty status -- therefore, no Tricare Insurance.

Do a search for Fort Hood and you can find the web site for there and for Fort Lewis. Or you can contact JAG wherever you are at right now.

With your situation you must still be married to the soldier to get medical benefits and if he retires from the military you are entitle to medical benefit but you CANNOT get married to anyone else. You have to remain married to that soldier for the duration of his career. If he is only in for less than 20 you do not get JACK. That is just the way it works. You can seek a civilian attorney and sue your husband but do not expect for the military to foot your medical expenses if he does not stay in and retire to get those benefits.

The military has no responsibility to pay your medical bills. your soon to be ex husband does. You need to get a lawyer who can get it in writing and a court order requring HIM to be responsible for your mediocal care. TRICARE will end for you the day your divorce is final. HE will have to pay out of pocket for any medical insurance you get. Not the military.

You may need to contact a lawyer who is proficient in military law and benefits.

How do you figure the Army needs to pay for it? He does, not the Army.
