Here's the best love songs I can think of off the top of my head that I don't think anyone would accuse of being cheesy:
"Somebody" by Depeche Mode: http://www.asklyrics.com/display/Depeche_Mode/Somebody_Lyrics/17633.htm
"A Girl Like You" - The Troggs
http://www.jencomics.com/artist_t/troggs_lyrics/with_a_girl_like_you_lyrics.html
"Nitcomb" by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros from Rock Art & The X-Ray Style: http://www.lyricsdir.com/joe-strummer-and-the-mescaleros-nitcomb-lyrics.html
"Rainy Night in Soho" by The Pogues
http://www.lyricsdownload.com/pogues-the-a-rainy-night-in-soho-lyrics.html
"Love Song" by The Cure (ok, maybe this song is a little cheesy, but it's a nice love song and the band isn't cheesy at all): http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~donna/personal/poems/lyrics/lovesong.html
"More Than This" - Roxy Music
http://www.lyricsfreak.com/r/roxy+music/more+than+this_20118877.html
"This Is Where I Belong" - The Kinks http://www.lyricsdir.com/the-kinks-this-is-where-i-belong-lyrics.html
"Looking for a Love" - Neil Young
http://www.mp3lyrics.org/n/neil-young/lookin-for-a-love/
"God Only Knows" - David Bowie does a good cover version of this Beach Boys tune that's on his album Tonight. http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/God-Only-Knows-lyrics-David-Bowie/CAFFC369CA45847D482568A200109533
"You & Me" by Peter Blegvad
Major indie-cred points if you seek out this great love song by one of England's most brilliant underground cartoonists.
"Love Minus Zero" by Bob Dylan: http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/zero.html
"If Not For You" Bob Dylan: http://bobdylan.com/songs/notforyou.html
"Blue Moon" by Big Star (this is not the 1950s doo-wop tune): http://lyrics.duble.com/lyrics/B/big-star-lyrics/big-star-blue-moon-lyrics.htm
"Do You Realize" by The Flaming Lips
"My Heart Will Go On" (Love theme from Titanic) - BUT, get the version done by surf-rock combo Los Straitjackets from their album The Velvet Touch of Los Straitjackets.
Or you could go the ultra-lounge route and pick:
"Everybody Loves Somebody" by Dean Martin: http://www.langeneggers.ch/Songs/everybody_loves.htm
"Make Someone Happy" Keely Smith and Jimmy Durante both have done great recordings of this: http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/sleeplessinseattle/makesomeonehappy.htm
"Come Rain or Come Shine" Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dr. John, Ray Charles and a million others have recorded this: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/billie+holiday/come+rain+or+come+shine_20018040.html
Cake Cutting Song Possibilities:
"Lips Like Sugar" by Echo & The Bunnymen
"Just Like Honey" or "Some Candy Talking" by Jesus & Mary Chain
If you want to go for something humorous, Paul Westerberg's "Hundred Dollar Groom." It's on Folker: http://members.aol.com/pwfiles/folker_words.html#groom
"Sweet" by Kevin Tihista from Wake Up Captain if you want something twisted.
"Lovable" by Elvis Costello from King of America

In regards to punk rock for a wedding song i'm not really sure, my husband and I had a country song..probably way too cheesey for you!! :) Anyway for a cake cutting song we didn't pick one- the DJ just played "Grow Old with You" from Adam Sandler's Wedding Singer, it ended up being perfect~! Congrats and good luck!

If you like punk rock, any wedding CD or wedding music site you choose, probably isn't going to have something you would be comfortable with. You might want to visit a place where they sell CDs & ask to be shown something more in line with your tastes.

Wedding aisle of Hobby Lobby or Paper Factory Outlet. They have DVD's and CD's for weddings. Costs about $25.00 but all that stuff is in there.

What song describes you the best? It doesn't have to be traditional or expected, just you. I like "I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne.
Good Luck!
