well up unitll now i have been ok with driving my car recently the the gas prices have been going up and up. though they have dropped a couple fo pennies I would say that buying gas today is still high. plus all those hummer owners have to pay way more to fill their tanks now aswell as the ones that own smaller cars.

yes and have you noticed that oil companies are reporting record breaking profits?...it seems that the supposed conflicts and whatever other reason they give are just a ploy for them to maximize their profits...if gas prices are rising so high because of increasing costs then why the outrageous profits for the producers?....we are fools buying a tall tale

I can't belive someone actually answered this question with DON"T DRIVE. They must obviuosly live in a large city controlled by busses and subway. Me on the other hand, I live in a smaller town where driving is a must like the majority of us. I also work in a industry that thrives on travel. So with all that said, Yeah it sucks. I think governments look at any way to profit more from gas sales. War, disasters, economy, inflation. There is always an excuse on why, and never a solution.

Unlike what many people think, the prices are set by the market, and not by a government. Supply and demand issues are driving prices higher, as growing countries, such as China, have an insatiable appetite for oil. About 75% of the current price of gas is due to supply and demand, about 15% is due to geopolitical issue, and about 10% is due to state taxes (California has the highest gas taxes).

Gas prices have been playing "catch-up" after being pretty low for years. The days of $2.00 gas are gone. Given how much we support those Arabs and the men that have died to protect it, we should be paying $1.00 a gallon, but it is what it is. Gas is still cheaper than water, considering you pay $1.00 or more for a bottle of water and about $3 and change for a gallon of gas.

It's not as simple as "don't drive"...it sucks, but as long as Bush is in office, all his Texas oil buddies will be raking in the dough...Exxon Mobile has a new record profit every quarter, yet we pay out the *** to drive to work & do errands...gotta love it!
