oh no don't remove his vocal cords. Didn't anybody tell you about Siamese? They "talk" alot. If you can't get used to it, find a Siamese rescue group and see if they can't place cat with people who love "The distinctive Siamese voice" That's what they call it. Some vets won't do this kind of surgery.
The thing to do if you can't get used to the meowing is- DON'T PAY HIM ANY ATTENTION WHILE HE'S LOUD. Sorry to shout. But the people who are saying give him lots of attention, are not quite right. It's when he is quiet that you should pet him and give him a treat. Perhaps he will get the idea that you like him quite.
With Siamese, there is only so much you can do.

This is why people should learn about the breed of cat (or dog) BEFORE they go out and buy one. Siamese TALK. They yowl, meowl, and wail ALL THE TIME. In fact, all the Oriental breeds do this. It's the nature of the breed and one of the traits that Siamese fanciers find most endearing. Yes, it's annoying at times, but it's wonderful too to know that your Siamese has so much to say and communicate with you! People shouldn't buy a breed just because it's beautiful. Siamese are loud, they are naughty, they are super intelligent (which gets them into trouble), they are in-your-face affectionate, very active and attention demanding. Also, Siamese do not like being the only cat. They like being with other cats, especially other Siamese. In fact, if you got another cat, you would find your Siamese a lot less chatty with you since he has a buddy. For you to give him up to the humane society because you were ignorant about this breed is lame. If he came from a breeder, you should contact that breeder. All breeders will take their cats back in a heartbeat. As for removing his vocal cords...I highly doubt you'd find any veterinarian who'd be willing to do such a cruel thing. If you did, I'd report him to the authorities immediately and have his license revoked!
Accept your commitment. Siamese are wonderful, lovable, cats. Seriously, consider a 2nd cat (a quieter Burmese maybe) and your cat will have much less to say to you. And try listening to your cat when he talks to you! If you ignore him, he'll just meow more. Show him some love and affection, offer him your warm lap to snuggle in and he will pipe-down for sure.

Strong personality and lots of talking are classic traits of Siamese cats. You didn't know this before you got one? Removing his vocal chords is a terrible idea! I personally enjoy talkative cats, they're very entertaining.

Some breeds are more talkative than others, siamese are among these. Didn't you know this when you got him?
He's only showing you how much he loves you, here you are so lucky to have a male who wants to communicate and keep you company. Except now that you have a male who wants to talk with you and be your best friend, you want to get rid of him coz he wont shut-up.
Why don't you get a solid colour female, she will totally ignore you and maybe then you will be happy with that - instead?

This is a much prized trait in Siamese cats.
It is very common that they talk are they are very vocal.
I would suggest placing him if it bothers you as I do not think that he will stop.
And yes having him de-meowed would be cruel.
Check out www.meezer.com for a link to Siamese Rescue if you decide to place him they are very good and would ensure he gets a great home

LOL. Sorry not much you can do about it. If you can't take it then I would suggest you give him away. How would you like your vocals removed? It is just the way Siamese cats are.

All cats are stubborned, but siamese cats are even more!
Mysiamesedoes that, but I dont mind, Iactually like it...
Try the water-gun method or the squirt bottle.
Cats are creatures of habit, obviously hegot into the habit of talking, you can attempt to make him get into the habit of
moderating his conversations with the water spraying method.
Dont argue with your own voice, he'll only talk even more!
Siamese are very attached to their human...
If the squirt method does'nt work, and you really feel that you must give him up, consider giving him to someone he knows and likes, and that is a cat lover... For siamese are very sensitive and need a lot of love and attention.
Ifyou do give him up, please dont adopt another siamese, they are very talkative and stubborn.

Some cats like to talk, sounds like yours is a little chatter box. This is how they communicate and if your cat hasn't always been this way, I would take it to the vet and make sure it isn't having any medical problems that could be causing it pain, causing it to talk alot.
I wish my kitty was vocal, it could be it's way of expressing love to you or saying, I am hungry... or just HI how was your day.
