Know the feeling! Been there, done that! My viewpoint is when I see a patient that has something I'm not familiar with I try to read something about it, even if I don't fully refresh myself.

Example: saw a patient with maltase deficiency, now I have some sort of reference for glycogen storage diseasees, but I am no means refreshed on biochem

To ginko202: All good docs admit when they don't know something. Would you rather be dead because your doc treated you wrong, or alive because your doc is willing (and able) to find the answers he needs to figure out whats wrong with you?

TOTALLY! I'm a med student. I'm a junior. I used to forget a lot and have bad marks. To refresh your knowledge, try reading books specialized for basic medical sciences (There are books which have recommended questions and answers for all the basic medical sciences you had). Because I assume you need it for your clinical years, or a big exam. These books are fantastic. They contain basic things you need to remember about Physiology, anatomy, embryology, biochemistry, pharmacology and pathology.

Of course, with all the info you need to know, it's natural to forget a lot. THe important thing is to review whatever you need for the time being. In the clinical years, you will not need a lot of that basic science knowledge (anatomy, biochem) - in fact many MDs do not know them!

I'd say that unless you are some sort of hyper intelligent cyborg freak this is very normal....sounds like you have exams coming up. Try browse the internet for some good summary notes on the required topics....you will find there is heaps, often on other uni websites.........aside from that, alot of coffee and stapling your eyelids open will also help with the inevitable cramming that will follow....good luck!

Jesus.

Did you dope your way through medical school? Try laying off the narcotics.

I hope you fail, by the way, if you plan on becoming a practicing doctor or surgeon. If not, then you better have one hell of a comprehensive malpractice insurance plan.

Just use the internet to refresh your memory instead of wasting your time asking these questions.

Did you take notes in those courses? Go over them if you did.

There is no short term fix for this unfortunately.

Take a good nap and then eat and then look over your notes. It'll come back to you. If it doesn't then change your major.
