what has he done to you that you want to leave him?

The longer you stay the harder it will get three will turn into four then five and so on. If you are unhappy now that will only get worse. It is better to leave at three instead of I should of three more years down the line.

It's always difficult to let go after a long period of time..you probably know each other very well.. Just recently myself and my now ex split up after 4 years.. It's difficult, but if you're not interested anymore you're not interested...
Perhaps you can remain good friends you have after all shared a huge number of experiences..

3 years is but a drop in time. If the man is not worthy of any more of your precious life, then leave him now.

3 years is not that long! If you know you should leave him you have your reasons... do not let something simple like time hold you in a relationship you dont want to or should not be in.

I'm sure it's just because he is your saftey net...and I'm also sure there are plenty of other guys that are right for you and who want to date you. There are so many fish in the sea...live a little! Whatever that guy did to make you feel this way he isn't worth you. Good Luck.
