The definition of success, or a person's priorities, changes through life. For a time it will be money/power/sex and for some that eventually changes over into family/friends/service. Success is so often defined FOR us by others (parents, friends, spouse, society) and those of us who accept those definitions often find success elusive, because those pre-defined goals are not what TRULY drives us. Finding what truly motivates you and pursuing that will often lead to success, because how can you not succeed (have money, enjoy work, etc) when you love what you do?

For me, success is enjoying life through work, play, family and friends. I could be poor or rich, but as long as I'm enjoying life, I feel successful.

Success in life can not be defined by any kind of possessions. Success in life can only be defined within oneself. To be successful in life you have to be true to yourself and do the things in life that are good and right, not because of any reward or gift, but because the are the right things to do. If you can look back on your life and feel really good about the way that you lived it and be sure that the people you touched in your life have been positively affected by your presents and actions, then you can be pretty sure that you had a pretty successful life.

Success in my life is defined by my ability to live through each day with happiness knowing that I can live without regret.

Some people define their success as how much money they make or how many things they have. There is that saying that, "you can't take it when you go".

So, why does everyone strive to "succeed" and brag about their success with money and materialistic things?

Their success is out of pure greed and being greedy just aides your strive to succeed in death.
