I am really proud of your responses. I hope you don't get discouraged by all of the negativity. As you said, the nasty comments really do demonstrate the fact that we, as Jehovah's people, would be objects of hatred. Keep with your studies, because no where else will you find these precious Bible truths.
I am also going to leave a link to the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses. In case you haven't gotten a chance to look at it yet. It is fun to explore. Have a great day, and be careful.

Yes, as you know there are many other Bible students. In fact even those of us who are Baptized a still Bible students.
That said I will now do two things.
First many of you disregarded the question to post your own propaganda. REPORTED
Second I shall try to dispel some of the more far fetched answers.
We did not change the Bible to fit our beliefes, we changed our beliefs to fit the Bible. Case in point we used to celebrate Christmas. When we realised the pagan origins of this holiday we discontinued celebrating it.
We are not a Cult.
The idea of the trinity is not at all a Bible based teaching.
We do primarily use the New World Translation. Note the word translation. That means we did not just alter another Bible. We work/worked very hard on accurate translation.
It is true we do not believe that Jesus is God since this is not true. Jesus is the son of God.
I notice the person who said there are nonBible based teachings in both the Catholic church, and in what Jehovah's Witnesses know, only gave examples ab out the Catholics. If there are so very many teachings why not share one in the answer.
To "Lukky Fokker" it has been awhile and at this rate it looks like your gonna get booted again. As almost always needed with your nonanswers you have been reported.
Justt once I would like it if someone provided acurate scriptures to support their arguments that my beliefs are wrong. PS we know Jesus and Satan are not "brothers"
Jesus is Jehovah's son. If not who did Jesus pray to prior to his "trial" and death.

I am glad to hear of your decision, because you are looking into the Bible yourself, not accepting someone else's word.
One piece of advice: Since many people believe that they change their Bible to suit their beliefs, such as the one who answered your question with the statement that he 'had studied with JWs and that JWs change their Bible to suit their beliefs', have you verified, (as I did), that ALL Bibles have the same meaning, if not the same exact words - except for the spurious text in the KJV at 1 John 5:7 that was changed to support the trinity teaching? (That can be shown by comparing an Interlineer translation showing exact wording from Greek to English - and the addition is very clear.) Before some of you disagree, please get a direct rendering translation that shows that.
Of course, if an addition had to be made to support that teaching, doesn't that lead one to question the doctrine itself? Especially since the word is not found in the Bible except in relation to some of the false religions around Israel. But, it is found throught many non-Christian religions, like Hindu, Babylonian, Egyptian, and more (past and present).

Does God not have other names? Elohim, Addonai, Emmanuel and many others are used in the Bible, why use only Jehovah? In fact, if it is the personal nature that appeals to you, why not use Abba which would pretty much equate to Daddy or Papa? Have you read the Bible for yourself or only used the studies that your church provides? The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will give insight in to the truth of Scripture. Also, which Bible are you reading? You mention at least one teaching that is decisively Catholic which I do not agree with and is not supported by the Bible, there are more than one Catholic traditions that are like this. It wouldn't be too difficult to point out teachings of the Jehovah Witnesses that are not supported by the Bible either, though. The only thing I can suggest is to study the Bible for yourself to know what is true.

Why would you keep going door to door if only 144,000 make it to Heaven. I think they do teach alot of whats in the Bible but use some of it out of context. We talked to a Jehovah's witness this weekend. He was a very nice person. But anytime we had a question he couldn't prove wrong he would quickly change the subject. My husband is good at keeping to the subject so when he saw we wouldn't be distracted he decided he had to go. I'm not trying to put down any 1 religion. Just search things out for yourself. Don't just go by what anyone tells you. Use a book that describes different religions so you can use comparisons. But, first and foremost use the Bible. When we first got started we set out to prove the Bible wrong. The more we searched the more we saw it was very true. All I'm saying is before you make any decisions do a little research.

If you don't believe in the Trinity, then you don't believe in the Bible. There are 3 different distinct beings, that are still one God. They each have different jobs to do. The Bible teaches you should not put forth any God's above God. Jesus and the devil are not brother's. Jesus is not Michael the Angel. You do not get into Heaven by doing good works. If you could, man could boast about about all their good works. Everybody gets into Heaven the exact same way. Going door to door does not get you into Heaven.
Having said that, I really like the fact that Jehova's Witness'es are so zealous about their faith. You are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I always wave when I see them on their bikes. They just don't like it when I bust out my Bible, and start showing them scripture. Most just get quiet, and leave. I try to spread the word of Jesus. Most do not even believe me when I tell them that their faith says God and the Devil are brothers. I tell them to talk to their Religious Leaders.
Jesus died on the cross to save people from their sins!!!

I am so glad that you have made the decision in your heart to be baptized. I was born in the truth, but I only got baptized a year-and-a-half ago. It is true how everything is answered with the bible. This organization, we don't lie. its all there. if only people could see that. im proud of you!
and don't listen to what apostates will tell you. We DO have the son of Jehovah god in the Bible, Jesus Christ. If we didn't believe in him, how would our faith for future life on earth, and resurrection be true. Jesus gave his life for us to have that second chance. Of course we believ in him.
Even the demons couldn't deny he was Jehovah gods son. In Mathew 8:29, we see that Jesus went to expel two demons that were taking control of two men. And they told him, have you come to torment us before the time has come, "Son of God?"
I suggest you keep on with the bible study, and don't listen to what Satan is trying to tell you through apostates. All he's doing is trying to weaken your faith in the only true god.

Jehovah Witnesses are not Christian even though they claim to be. Search the internet and see what Christians can inform you about the differences. That is if you have not been taught already that you can't read any other literature. Do you think it's fair to call all other believers apostates just because they are not Jehovah Witnesses?

I am also studying the Bible, but I no longer study with Jehovah's Witnesses. I would like to tell you why.
First of all, I want to tell you that I am no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses, although at one time I was convinced that they were the only religion in the world approved by God. I want to tell you this up front, and I hope you will read what I have to say before you make a decision about the kind of person I am. I realize that Jehovah's Witnesses feel.. as I did, also, because I was told...that if someone leaves the religion, it is because they are probably the kind of person who just doesn't want to live by Bible standards. Or they're a prideful and arrogant person and so they didn't want to submit to Jehovah's arrangement. I'm sure that in some cases, that is true. But I promise you, that is not true in my case.
I also want to say that Jehovah's Witnesses, for the most part, are a wonderful group of people. They are clean living and very sincere in what they believe. And I still agree with much of what they teach, but you don't have to be a Jehovah's Witness to not believe in eternal torment or the trinity. They are good people, but many of them are very much ignorant of the real factual history of their religion. They merely accept what they're told and honestly don't know the real story about SO many things. I didn't. Also, they think that because no one else has the "truth", then they are the only ones left. But just because someone else is wrong doesn't mean that you can't be wrong, too. Just in a different way.
I left because I found out that the men who call themselves the "faithful and discreet slave" and who claim to have the direction of the Holy Spirit are in fact, mere men who don't really have the direction from Heaven that they claim to have. Of course these men are imperfect like everyone else, and they will tell you that. But they will also tell you that the Watchtower magazine is "directed" by God Himself. In the past, they have been so confident about their ability to predict the future that they have prophesied that certain things would happen in a certain year. And yet those prophecies failed. If Jehovah God, the god of true prophecy, was directing them, their prophesies would not fail. It doesn't matter that they're imperfect men, because if the prophecy is from God, it will come true even if he uses imperfect men to tell others about it.
There are several different examples of prophecies that failed...first in 1914 when the Kingdom of God failed to be established in the earth, then in 1925 when the dead were not resurrected as Judge Rutherford had claimed they would be. I am not lying to you....you can read these prophecies for yourself because the Watchtower has been in business since 1879 and these prophecies are written down for anyone to read. Until the past several years, it was not easy to find these older magazines and books, but now because of the Internet, this older literature is now widely available. Also, in the Kingdom Hall Library there are some older books and magazines that can be read. Most Witnesses know they're there, but just like I was, most don't read them and don't know what they actually say.
I don't know if you're aware that Charles Russell, the founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses, started publishing the Watchtower because he wanted to share a wonderful "truth" with the rest of mankind. That great "truth" was that Jesus had returned invisibly to the earth in 1874. Many people believed him, but now not even Jehovah's Witnesses think that it was the truth. Jesus knew at the time that he hadn't come back to the earth, and I don't think he was happy that Pastor Russell was misleading people into believeing that. Yet the WT continues to say that God not only WANTED people to believe this lie, he even "directed" and "blessed" Pastor Russell in his spreading it. (I realize that Pastor Russell was not lying on purpose, but nevertheless he was leading people to believe something false, just as many other religious men have done and are still doing.) I've learned so many things about the REAL history of Jehovah's Witnesses, that I can't even begin to tell you. And I will tell you this. I have not learned it from people who hate Jehovah's Witnesses or people who used to be Jehovah's Witnesses. I have learned it for myself because I have read the Watchtower publications dating back to the 1800's.
And if you really do love "truth", you should do the same. Once you are baptized, you will no longer be able to ask any questions or express any doubts about "the faithful and discreet slave". You will learn that these men want blind obedience from you, and that if you doubt them, they will tell you that you are doubting Jehovah himself.
So please do yourself a favor and investigate ALL the facts before you decide to get baptized. If you invesigate and you still want to become a Witness, then that is certainly up to you. But once you get baptized, it's too late. If you would decide then that maybe this isn't the truth, you would be disfellowshipped and shunned, even by your own family members if they are Witnesses, also.
If you want to email me, I will help you to read up on the history of the Witnesses by directing you to the information published by the Watchtower Society themselves. Then you can make an informed decision. What have you got to lose?

I have studied with them and you should know that they have changed their bible to fit their beliefs. Compare their bible to a KJV sometime. They have removed Jesus as the Son of God. But Yes there is but ONE God and He is the Father. They are correct in this.
