hi,
firstly i would like to state that please don`t buy a rover, renault, citroen. They are all unreliable. It is because i care about your reliability of a car. I don`t know you personally but when someone tells me to recommend a car i have to say whats best for the person. Japanese cars are generally known as best such a toyota, nissan, honda, mazda. So if you bought one of those you won`t have any future problems. You have 5 grandish to spend how about a sexy lexus?

xx

I own an Audi A4 2.8L 24v Quattro, and its the best car I have ever driven. It has the looks, the power and the style.

The 2.0L versions are equally excellent cars, A4's are a bit pricey maybe when compared to similar size cars such as Vectra's etc but they hold their value well and when it comes to re-selling you would make most of it back.

I highly recommend going for the 4 wheel drive Quattro rather the the 2WD, it holds the road like you would not believe, no wheel spins and is ideal for wet / snowy conditions you might encounter in the winter. For £5k you can get a clean, low mileage dream machine with bags of safety features thrown in to protect your family.

Ps Audi make not only their own cars but also all the VW's and Skoda's amongst others. The Skoda Octavia also a fantastic motor but put that next to a VW and an Audi and you will see that the interiors are almost identical as well as the basic styling of the car. God bless Audi!

A new Skoda, or as new as you can get. They are great cars now and because of there past bad reputations they are cheap- good value for money. My dad has just got a Skoda Fabia VTR diesel, its fast and real nice to drive! Probably a bit small for what you are looking for so look at Octavia they are Vectra size, VW reliablility, Skoda price!

We have had a Honda Civic from new and has been back to the garage too many times and it's 2012 model and Honda have messed up our lease plan so we're having to pay for extra mileage I would recommend a Renault Laguna a 2009 model is about 3,500-4,000

Skoda Octavia (VW Passat in disguise) would probably be the best value for money.
Dont bother with a vectra ot a mondeo they really are dull
Go and have a look down at your Honda dealership they are OK

I'd go along with ME, The Skoda fabia is a great car, the diesel estate even better.
Good value, good drive, reliable and they hold their resale value.
