Tesco are rubbish. Asda is cheapest, and good if you do a monthly shop. Some quality issues though. Morrisons are slightly less cheap and their meat quality is excellent. Sainsburys have a great range of quality stuff, but it's a little pricey. Scaling up from that you have Waitrose, M&S just food, then traditional grocers and butchers.
So, push comes to shove, for me it's asda, cos their generic Islay whisky is great, and they have Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on at £1.00 a stubbie at the moment!

OK Let's hear it for Aldi's. It's products are ace, very good quality, however, it is limited in what it sells. Their own brand of deli stuff is good and they do nice stuffed chillies, feta cheese, roast aubergines etc. to have with drinks. However, over all I think Sainsburys takes some beating as their quality is good and their prices fair. So Sainsburgers gets my vote.

for quality, cleanliness and hygiene - SAINSBURY (definitely!)
for reasonably priced vegetables - TESCO
i have to shop at both supermarkets every weekend coz Sainsbury's veg are so expensive,
some of the Tesco products are really rubbish - such as bread, tissues, tesco icecream ketc ....

Tescos - value for money, wide stock, displays content (i.e. salt value), good customer service, rewards customers, points gained can be used at any tescos store as opposed to sainsburys

Tesco for bargains - especially over the counter remedies such as Brufen & Antihistamines. Apart from that I loathe the place.
Sainsburys - for choice.
Waitrose & M&S for a little more luxury.

Tescos for me. I live near a superstore and it has the best choice and it seem the best value. However for that special meal, M&S is a must. Luckily for me its next door to my Tesco's!
