1. They do jobs many won't do
2. They're just trying to make a better life in America
3. They love America and it's laws, but it's sooo hard to work legally and still live
4. America couldn't run without these women (and men) on their backs!
5. It's America's fault that they are prostitutes! America makes them illegal. America fines and imprisons them for doing illegal activities. But then they are back on the street the next day. So obviously the people in power want prostitutes. Don't blame the ho, blame the rich 'John' paying for her/him!
I'm not for prostitution any more than illegal immigration. Hopefully I've made a point though.

Hey Illegal Immigrant and Proud to be:
So to become legal (per your own question), you just need 1000 women to take you up on your offer, eh? Well look elsewhere hun, this girl don't pimp.

ok, I thought people could read.....
This is a parallel for Illegal Immigration. I used the excuses I have heard supporting Illegal Immigration for prostitution instead. I was hoping more of you would get that.......
Unless those that support prostitution support illegal immigrants too?

Ha! There is a far better case for prostitution than illegal immigration.
Prostitutes:
1. Can be considered private entrepreneurs, running a business and offering a service
2. They make contracts between themselves and customers
3. Presumably they deliver on the service
4. Presumably the customer pays
If they have nothing else to offer society than sexual services, why shouldn't they be allowed to ply their trade.
Take out the "sex" issue and put in "child care" and no one bats an eye. As for illegal immigrants, the issue is not just the work part of it, but their participation in the entire social structure of our community. They cannot do so properly because their very being in our country is based on lie and deception. The prostitute is only based on their job.

I have answered this question a few days ago from someone else but I am going to do it again. I think prostitution is a smart thing to do. As far as STD's do you think prostitutes want them, they do try to protect themselves I am sure. I think it should be legal because our police have alot harder crimes to deal with than picking up hookers so they can be back on the street the next day. We have to pay for food, housing, cars, health care, TAXES, why not a prostitute if we want one. I have never even seen one but I bet I could be a madam if they wanted to legalize it in Arkansas. It just provides a service that if legal would make life alot nicer for some people. You give it away to a stranger after a night of drinking or after 1 night on a date, you tell me what the difference is, the guy is usually looking for just sex anyway because you never hear from him again after that night out so he did pay you but you didn't get to put the money straight into your pocket, the restaurant and the movie theater got it or the club. He still got the sex. This is the ranting of a 50 year old woman who has seen alot of life and knows that sex is sex whether it is given away or sold.

On a philosophical level I think that a woman should be able to do what she wants with her body. On a practical, realistic level I know that many women are forced into prostitution out of desperation, by drugs, by illegal alien smugglers, etc. That is the aspect of it that prevents me from supporting legalized prostitution.

Legalizing it would provide federal job protections for women and take a big bite out of the Mob...which is probably why it willl never happen.
The US is still culturally more conservative than the rest of the world (except for Islamic nations, ironically), so that concept will likely be fought down in Congress.

Prostitution isn't a job. (I busted out laughing looking @ this question). Now the heffers choose to get money the easy way instead of working, an actual job, not on the corners. So life's a b tich when you can't things your way.

I agree with you bitter princess. Seems like this tramp wants to have prostitution as her career.

I think if prostitution were legalized, it would be fine. Look at Amsterdam. Then, the prostitutes wouldn't need abusive pimps, perhaps they could have a prostitute temp agency instead. Not to mention the tax benefit of having them be a bona fide tax-paying American. It would be good for the economy. While we're at it, let's make the dope dealers pay taxes too. ;)

Well, the answer really depends on how you view the issue.
Viewing it from a moral perspective, the answer should be "no". On the other hand, viewing it in a more pragmatic perspective would make you think of the Pros and Cons of legalizing porostitution which MAY (great emphasis put on "may") lead to a "yes".

i agree. it's the oldest occupation in the world for a reason. the only thing that scares everybody about prostitution is all the STD's that can be transferred. honestly, what hooker is going to say that she has aids when she needs to pay rent. then what happens, they get put on some kind of government welfare and we have to pay for them with more taxes.
it's a lose lose situation. now marijuana, that should be legal.Heh!

Being a prostitute is already legal it just takes a different form. (Women who rely on their good looks to get things from men, I mean.)
