english bulldogs are great with kids and make a good family dog, the only thing is they have a shorter life expectancy than most dogs, consider that before giving one to a child, but other than that they are awesome

Yes, they're good with kids and as easy to train as other breeds. The people I know who have them though, have major problems with them in the heat (the dogs are either in the basement or have a fan turned on them at all times when the temps. over 24 C). The dogs also have respiratory problems, so vet costs may be something you'd want to consider with this breed.

English bulldogs are wonderful family dogs, fairly easy to train, low maintenance as far a activity goes and good watchdogs. But, they have a lot of breathing problems, if you live in a very warm climate they will struggle always with the heat. Also can be very stubborn with training and have multiple skin problems. Prepare for a lot of vet visits for minor ailments. Great dogs just be prepared for proper maintenance on the health side.

They are awesome dogs, but they are also high maintenance if you want a higher than average number of vet bills. They can have skin problems, including infections that develop in the folds of their skin, allergies, and as someone already mentioned, breathing problems.
Research the breed. Call rescue people and ask them what problems they've seen with them. They see more problems than anyone, because they take the castoffs no one wants anymore. If you decide this is the breed for you, do your research on breeders.... or maybe adopt one of those rescue dogs! :)
Good Luck!

dear bulldog lover,
They are relatively easy to train and good with kids; that is if they don't tease them to much.
There are thousands of dogs in shelters and pounds. these poor things have been neglected and or abused for the most part. Maybe you could perform a small miracle and adopt one of them.
