I was thinking of making a cheese cake crust with cookie crumbs, butter and sugar and then for the filling I'd use ready made pudding mix by first cooking it as directed on the pack and then pouring it over crust, baking for a few minutes in oven and finally cooling. do u guys think it could work?

Sure, I did this last week. However make sure the pudding is quite solid already when you put it into the crust, so that you can cut it properly afterwards. Mine was a bit too runny.

Easy no-bake cheescake

I use a stoe bought premade graham cracker crust and just skip the crust making step.

Lemon Cheesecake
Yield: 6 Servings

CRUST
1/3 cup Powdered sugar
1/2 cup Butter/oleo; melted
1 1/2 cups Graham cracker crumbs

FILLING
8 oz Cream cheese
1 pkg Instant lemon pudding
2 cups Milk

Mix sugar, crumbs, and butter. Bake as for crumb crust.

Mix cream cheese until smooth.
Gradually blend in 1/2 cup milk until smooth and creamy.
Add remaining milk and pudding mix.
Beat slowly with egg beater for 1 minute. Do not overbeat.
Pour into cooled crust. Chill

As the first poster stated, it would be 'pudding pie' and the 2nd poster is also correct, it would turn out runny.

There is a reason why it is called 'cheesecake'. The main ingredient is 'cheese' as the 3rd poster's recipe indicates.

Yes it would, think there is a french recipe for that and believe they put in vanilla essence to flavour it or prunes. in the pudding mix.

You'll end up with a pudding pie; it won't taste like cheesecake.
It might taste good, but not like cheesecake.

Jell-o has a really good cheesecake box mix if you want to try that.
