That depends on the religion you follow. But I am guessing that since you have doubts about (the existence of?) God, you aren't practicing any particular religion (or no main stream ones, anyways), or at least don't wholly believe the practices of that particular group.

The truth is, at the route of everything, you have to follow your heart in matters of religion. If you aren't sure who God is or what God is or if he even exists, you can't help that. I know I don't know for certain.

Here is my opinion. If there is some all mighty being watching over us, then he should have the foresight to realize that some of us may get it wrong, or confused, all of us for that matter. With no concrete evidence, all you can have is faith, YOUR faith. If you aren't sure, follow your uncertainty. Believe with your whole heart that you just don't know whats next, if anything is next. Learn as much as you can, and follow THAT faith.

Truth be told, I would not want an afterlife with a "God" who could not forgive me for not being sure.

Best bet? Use morality in all aspects of your life; respect yourself, respect others, and respect the planet you live on. You know the difference between right and wrong, without some religious doctrine telling you, but if that doctrine fits with your Faith, then by all means, let it help guide you as well.

Assalamualikum!

Great question.....but one huge glaring flaw!

How and what way can you lead a decent life? According to which religion? What is decency?

If you have the answer to this question you shall not have any doubt about God.

I am a muslim and I would like you to compare all religions, look for the truth.......but for Heaven's sake do not listen to what people have to say or what the media has in store (about any religion whatsoever)....Go directly to the source, the holy book(s), the Quran, the Bible. If you would like to learn more about Islam, learn about it from a trusted source, get in touch with a muslim organization....I deeply respect every religion, but there definitely will be one true way.... All buses do not take you to the same destination do they? No matter how similar or different they are!

And coming to decency....

A lot of people today who call themselves decent do a lot of things that are wrong from every point....they drink, commit adultery, cheat, rob.....

So you'd better learn about the truth of the life of this world and decide before its time!

Browse through these sites, they're great!

Nope, what matters is to live a decent life, that's the reason behind believing in God and religion. Since by living that life already, you are well ahead in your spirituality.

Also, religion is merely product of belief rather personal thought.Everyone is given a mind in order to reflect upon anything therefore it should not be done for you, You don't believe in God or religion, fine because that's the product of your own personal reflection and experience.

A person's belief system is majorly influenced by many factors: Which part of the world he was born, raised; his parents' own belief and other relatives.

Hell, just the fabrication of religion, IT DOES NOT EXIST!

The heart is involved in this judgement. God judges the heart. Many are taught to doubt God from youth. Some are taught evolution in churches...abortion is ok...a right given to us... These are confused by church leaders who are wishy washy about preaching truth from the pulpit.
Today standards are very very low. The Christians are to be different and stand out as different in moral integrity.
If a person chooses to ignore Gods standards the price will be paid by eternal death....not a torment. For the reward of a Christian is eternal Life. Jesus has been sent to the earth to lead us on the narrow road that leads to life.
As Gods appointed Judge ,Jesus will have the final say in the judging process. Since many have died without knowing the pleasure of serving God and opposing the Devil it would likely that Jesus would give them another oppourtunity to do so. At death one pays for the Adamic sin . The second death mentioned in the book of Revelation is when deliberate sin is a practice. This is permanent death. FOREVER. the wages sin pays is Death...not torment. Recall that even the thief alongside Jesus when he was tortured had hope as a result of his faith in Jesus

There is a difference between "doubt" and "disbelief". Doubt is an emotion, like fear, and it cannot always be controlled. Unbelief is an act of the will, where one refuses to believe in God because the ramifications of that belief require him to give up sin and clean up his life. Since some people do not want to give up their pet sin (whatever that is), then they refuse to acknowledge God's existence. Disbelief usually leads (eventually) to more sin.

Honest doubt simply spurs one to dig deeper and find some answers to alleviate the doubt.

In summary, disbelief is a sin; doubt is just an emotion that you get over. God will not condem you for honest doubt (you can always pray to God, like doubting Thomas, and ask for help).

It depends on the weigh of doubts that you are having. If they are little doubts then it can be cleared up thru prayer and counseling with a local minister or fellow believers. If it's a doubt that's negative towards the focus of God's existence then you do have a negative situation that I pray that you will continue to search out before it's too late.

First, It really all depends on what you consider hell to be... God does not anyone to Live with out him in their life(mortal and eternal) but for some who deny Him in their last breath they will live with out him for the rest of eternity. This is the true hell, to finaly know of Gods existance and to know that He is Good and Loves you and then to not beable to be with Him... Doubt does not mean denial and so if you Believe but you are not sure as to His fullness of being don't worry. If you don't believe and think that God is fictional I have to ask the one thing that is probably most fitting. What would be easier to go by blind faith and believe in Him only to be proven wrong later or would it be easier to not believe in Him only to live without Him forever more after finding out that you were wrong to disbelieve... Remember to doubt is a natural emotion but to deny is against all that is Good. God will never "send" anyone to hell, He wants everyone to know his presence and to live in it and the way to that presence is to accept him. That does not mean you can't doubt it just means that you should not completely deny him.

If you want to know what Hell is like, Think back to when you lost a very close family member or a pet that you loved very much, Remember the emptyness that you felt. Try living that day over and over from this day forward That is hell only much much smaller. Life without God is unimaginable to me and in my opinion a very lonely place.

No. What you believe is not nearly as important as what you do. A good person will get their just desserts even if they don't know that they have it coming.

Believing is important because it helps a person that have doubts or who may be confused to live a decent life. Believing within itself will not win you absolution; it's the doing that counts.

Heaven & Hell are questions of Judgement, reserved for God Alone. Is it ok to doubt? Well, it's human to doubt, everyone doubts, even the most devout Christian. Anyone that tells you differently is lying.
