Why would you want to be a Jew when there's a wide variety of other religions out there, like Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Paganism, Satanism, The Mormons, heck even Islam! The Jews have been persecuted for centuries upon centuries, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon! Do Jews think all the Christians are just wrong and that someone just lied about Jesus being a savior? Why the heck would anyone want to be a Jew?

Christians have been persecuted for centuries as well. Take a look at the book Jesus Freaks by DC Talk and see how it has been for those choosing to follow Christ. Jewish people have as much right, reason, or cause to follow Judaism as anyone else has to practice any of the other religions you have mentioned. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Jewish people are also born into Judaism; meaning it is a lineage or "race" only a few persons actually choose to convert to Judaism.
By the way, I am a Southern Baptist, and while I disagree with the beliefs of Judaism, I agree 100% with the right to choose your faith. I have tried witnessing to a Jewish individual and it didn't change his beliefs in anyway, so as a Christian, I have done what I am told to do, and now I move on. I will continue to pray for this person, but I will not criticize his beliefs. Bottom line is, none of us will ever KNOW what the "right" religion is, only what our beliefs are, and the best we can do is stand by those beliefs and honor our God. Sorry for the rambling, but that is just my opinion. :-)

Speaking as a Christian, I think Jews are important and valid in that they have at least picked a religion and remained faithful to it. Whether they are right or wrong, their faith has remained in tact for centuries. Who am I to say they are not right. What about scientologists, or Islam , or Jehovah's witness....all religions have there own public cross to bear. Look at Catholicism. It is one of the largest religions of today, yet it is rife with stories of pedophiles in the clergy, cover ups by the higher ups, paganism in relation to some of their doctrine. Yet who knows it is not the true religion. Why would anyone think that they know the mind of GOD so well that they can prove beyond a doubt that any one religion is invalid beyond another. God will sort out the believers and non believers and many who think they are right now might just be in for a shock.

Religion isn't a matter of preference but reality (or to avoid arguements, belief). You are either acting properly or you are not. Jews remain Jewish because they believe they are living the way the are supposed to, having a hard time is sort of like school in a way. The fact that school is hard does not make education wrong.

why would anyone want to be a "christ"ian or a moron? thats a better question. werent "christ"ians persecuted for a while there too though? didnt romans feed them to lions? werent pagans persecuted by the "christ"ians? arent satanists persecuted by just about everyone? buddists and hindi dont really care what you think and islam while very similar to all other religions has been misunderstood for centuries by those that are so unwilling to accept that any could call their diety anything but god. just one more thing for you to think about there mel...stop drinking and driving and throwing anti semetic slurs around.

It isn't a question of wanting to be a Jew, that is a fundamental part of who they are. Like any faith or philosophical viewpoint it is as much a worldview as it is anything else. I never particularly wanted to be Pagan, but I am.

Jesus was the first one to think like you and he was Jewish. Although I do find it strange that the savior/son of God could so easily and mercilessly be murdered. Hmmm.

firstly, because we actually believe in our religion. to be able to serve G-d in the way that we believe is right is wonderful. its worth being persucuted. secondly, we don't believe that Je sus is the savior (or whatever you think he is). He was a liar and a fake.

Easy answer....because it's emotionally and spiritually satisfying to me...it's my lineage, my heritage...it's who I am.

Other answer...because I would never want to be a member of any religion that wants people like you in it!
