I suppose like anywhere else it has good points and bad points. I've been here for 20 years. Must like it a little bit, huh? :)
Are you going to be going to school here? It's very busy once the students get here...and very quiet and peaceful in the summertime. Champaign's a small town, but has some advantages of a larger city. There's diversity (thanks to the U of I) and because of that, there are tons of restaurants of different ethnic backgrounds. There's some nightlife in downtown Champaign or Urbana. If you like sports the UofI has a great stadium and usually available cheap seats for football...basketball is not cheap and hardly ever available, but fun to watch when you can. The Tennis Center hosts many matches. There's all the other sports as well, softball, baseball, la cross, swimming, hockey...all of it.
There are two public high schools, one Catholic high school and one semi-private high school. Many grade schools and several jr, highs.
I guess it's a good place to live. Not too big, not too small. And it's pretty...the park district takes great pains to make sure of it! :)
I don't know what else you may want to know. Hopefully I've covered what you're looking for.
Good luck!

I haven't heard of too many bad crimes happening there, which is important to me. I see it as an average city and they do have nice parks. It isn't too hard to get to other big cities from there either.
