It takes about 7-10 days for the virus to go through your system and burn out. Secondary symptoms can crop up too and make the recovery longer. My hubby had flu last October then was flat on his back from Pneumonia for 3 weeks. It sounds like you have some of these complications as flagyl has been prescribed.
I hope you feel better soon. Get your rest and lots of fluids

the flu (influenza) is a virus. antibiotics or any such medicine will not cure it or prevent it. Although this sounds so basic it is true...plenty of water and rest is what is needed to get over the flu. the reason why the flu can take ages to clear up is because there s a process known as phagocytosis going on in your body. this involves your antibodies that are produced engulfing the virus particles throughout your body.

flu takes a long time to cure as it is a virus not a living organism.
you body has to produce new antibodies every time you get a new flu and that takes time.
and that is why antibiotics dont work as well and your doc should not prescribe them for the flu. try bed rest and lost of fluid. if that is not possible try lots of fluid and keeping warm

the flu is a virus and needs to run its course. If you get a cold on top of the flu it will take longer for your body to build back. Drink plenty of liquids and get lots of rest, this helps your body heal on its own.
