we adopted a kitten about 3 weeks ago, he was very verbal to start out with, then lastweek we went away for 2 days on vacation and since we have been back the kitten wont stop talking...if i stop playing with him for 1 minute he yells and screams at me, he talks while he is in the litter box, eating, playing, you name it! he's not sick, he was just at the vet before we left on thursday for shots and a check-up. Do you think its because i give him too much attention and he's taking advantage of that, or that he is still mad?? Or think its just because he's a very verbal cat?

Lord have mercy on you!! I have a 31/2 year old male that has exactly the same problem. He starts crying at 5 am because he wants to go outside. You let him out, and five minutes later he's crying to come in!!
I hope for you that your cat settles down, otherwise we could end up neighbours in the loony bin!!

I have a cat that "chats" too. And in fact I read that although dogs appear to understand human speech to a limited degree, moreso than cats, cats actually try to communicate with us. They apparently do not meow at each other, only to humans, which would seem to confirm the theory. If he's not sick and he is still eating and playing, I wouldn't worry! Just enjoy his chatting and chat right back!

Some cats are just talkers. They don't have the reasoning power to try to get back at you for something you did, like the vacation. He's probably just yammering because he missed you.
I have two cats that won't shut up. They talk all day long. Especially when I just get home after being gone all day.

I think he's just making sure that you're there and haven't deserted him - being away for a longer time than usual for the first time has the effect of changing the cat a bit. Mine went nearly silent after my first week-long trip (I had arranged for a friend he knows to come and feed & groom him daily). After a bit, he returned to his normal voracity; I had missed his "comments".

How does he talk while eating? Mine is very concentrated at that time... :)

Kitty is trying obviously to tell you something! Seriously, cats are very intelligent. He probably experienced separation anxiety when you left. Reassure him by talking tohim in a high pitched voice. Cats love that. I always talk to my cats, I say goodby when I leave, hello when I comehome etc.
My tabby is used to this, my siamese does'nt like it when I leave for to long, and lets me know it. Even tough my neighbour comes twice a day to feed them.

Your cat is probably has a superior IQ. It happens in animals also. Seize this opportunity to teach him triks.
Heis very young, and kittens need more attention than grown up cats. . Obviously your cat has tightly bonded to you.
Dont worry, be happy!
You got yourself a wonderfull companion!
I wish you a long-long and happy relationship with your cat!

If he is a kitten, he needs lots of attention in the beg. they are little babies. SOme cats need more nurturing , once they adapt to their environment they calm down....he is only 3 weeks old.. that is very very young.. just nurture him, have patience, and he will calm down.. it happened to me....just love him
