is security more important?

That's a very personal decision each person must make for him/herself, and a difficult one at that for many people.

Personally, I think we all need both in order to be truly happy, and the happiness or satisfaction gained from one will be temporary unless the other exists as well.

I also don't believe in gaining security through another person. Human relations are volatile, especially in recent decades where divorce has become so common and many more people opt not to get married at all. You are only truly secure if you can stand alone, without the assistance of another.

The love versus security question then takes a different perspective: are you willing to compromise or modify your own plans and objectives toward security as a result of your love for another? In that respect, I think an acceptable balance or compatibility is required for real happiness.

Love is just a different kind of security. Sometimes you have to choose between being financially well-off and being with someone who will always be there for you, and that's not easy. Unless you're really a mercenary person -- unless you can't be happy without expensive things -- then love is the right choice.

Unless by "love," you mean "passion." In that case, take security. Passion fades.

love is very important. love is the thing that keeps you from making deadly relationship mistakes. if you want security get a dog, get a job, security is something you can give to yourself. you don't need someone else for that. you need someone else to experience the passion and experiences that only love for someone else can give you and I'm not talking about sex I'm talking about putting someone else's feelings on an equal or greater plane than your own. a very wise friend of mine once told me there is a big difference between being alone and being lonely

Imagine living with someone that makes you feel "safe" but totally drives you insane in almost every other way possible!
