I feel that each person must follow their own heart and practice their own spirituality as they feel best to do. If the religion you practice is only a doctrine of rules to follow, now can that inspire you to be a more spiritual person and know the love and beauty of the divine source. It matters not what you believe as long as it inspires you to be a better person to yourself and to all others.
Times do change, and with those times people should allow themselves to change with them. Any organization that perpetuates stagnation in the growth of society is one that is bent on controlling society. (i.e. certain types of religion) Christianity is not the only way to connect with God. I believe you are right on when you say that people shouldn't have to go to church in order to connect with God.
God is inside you and everyone else. The best way to find him/her is to look within your own heart. In other words, no one can tell you how to connect with the divine source better than you yourself. Follow what you know to be right and you will achieve happiness and contentment.

I disagree. Our past generations and their beliefs have nothing to with those who choose to believe in Christianity or other monotheists beliefs. Other religions, I can't speak for but you choose what you want and evolve but I will continue believe what I know is True. God is not outdated and his word isn't either. God never changes but we do for evil or for good. You must have never been to church or understand what the church is for. The Church is just a building where believers meet to fellowship and connect with God not just on Sundays and Wednesday either but on a daily basis and not just behind those 4 walls but everywhere you go. We are the church. The body of Christ.

No, I don't agree. Christianity has been tried and true for over 2000 thousand years! But what I think you're talking about is the traditional veiw, that you have to go to church and say your prayers and night and be a good person. That's not being a Christian. Jesus should mean more to you than that, He wants to be your best friend! We keep looking for another "high" to keep us satisfied, but we all know the truth in our hearts. We're all searching for the love that only Jesus gives us. I hope this helps out!
Take care, hon! And God bless! :)

I can prove the Bible is God's word and will show that it is not based on "pure 100% faith." In order to "prove" something is true one must establish that its truth is beyond any reasonable doubt. The best way to do this is to examine the claims of the Bible about itself. Before looking at what these claims are (internal evidence) it is important to first establish that the Bible is historically authentic and reliable (external evidence). The high quantity and high degree of historical evidence for the Bible force us to consider seriously no only the events recorded in it but also the claims that it makes.
There have been over 5300 copies of the New Testament Greek manuscripts discovered, the earliest of which dates to 120 A.D. In addition over 10,000 Latin Vulgate and 9300 other early versions of manuscript copies of portions of the New Testament exist today. Over 8000 existing copies of early New Testament translations (e.g. Syriac, Latin and Coptic) have been found most dated in the 300's and 400's A.D. Almost the entire New Testament could be reproduced from over 36,000 quotations by early church leaders. For example Clement (96 A.D.), early Bishop of Rome; Ignatius (115 A.D.), Bishop of Antioch; Polycarp (120 A.D.), the Bishop of Smyrna. Ignatius and Polycarp were both discipled by the Apostle John, who wrote more books of the New Testament than anyone except Paul.
No other ancient document even begins to approach the numbers of the New Testament. The Iliad by Homer is second with only 643 manuscripts and the first complete preserved text dates to the 13th century. F.F. Bruce compares the New Testament to other ancient historical writings: "For Caesar's Gallic Wars (composed between 58 and 50 B.C.) there are several extant MSS, but only nine or ten are good, and the oldest is some 900 years later than Caesar's day. Of the 142 books of the Roman history of Livy (59 B.C.-A.D. 17), only 35 survive… Of the 14 books of the Histories of Tacitus (ca A.D. 100) only four and a half survive; of the books of his Annals, 10 survive in full and two in part."
The continuity of the Bible is itself proof of its veracity. The harmony of the Biblical authors is overwhelming considering the controversial subjects contained, the number and variety of authors and the time span in which it was written. The Bible was written over a 1500 year span over 40 generations. God used over forty authors from many walks of life: kings, fisherman, a doctor (Luke), a tax collector (Matthew), a military leader (Joshua), etc. It was written on three continents during periods of war and peace. It was written in three languages (Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic) and in different places: John on the isle of Patmos, Paul in prison, Luke while traveling, Jeremiah in a dungeon and Moses in the wilderness. Even though the Bible was written in many different literary styles, (poetry, historical narratives, parables, allegories, etc.) it shows remarkable consistency throughout.
An honest look at the evidence presented here confirms that the Bible is trustworthy and reliable. Much more evidence is worthy of mentioning like the fulfillment of the Bible's prophesies and the confirmation from archeology. Once the authenticity of the Bible is shown "externally" then an honest observer must examine the claims of the Bible and the implication of the claim that the Bible is the word of God.

We have, at our fingertips, the information that our grandparents would have taken a lifetime to accumulate.
Have a question? Ask google.
Use this information to educate yourself. Find a religion or a way of life that makes sense to You. There are lots of them out there, and hopefully you live in a society where it does not matter which one you pick.
Personally, I think everyone should find a religion that advocates the betterment of humanity and equal rights for all, but maybe that's just my American heritage showing through and I simply think the 1st amendment was a great idea.
Addendum: I am so sick of people saying how the Bible is such a great book etc etc. It's not, it's a perfect example of religious intolerance, revenge, jealousy, misogyny (mistreatment/hatred of women) and atrocities. Crimes against humanity. Don't believe me? Read it some time, cover to cover, like I have. Anyone who says that the Bible is a great book does not understand it as someone who cares about all people would. Yes, there are good things in there (passages about love in Corinthians is a very good one), but that doesn't offset the almost complete genocide of mankind, God's manipulation of kings to "show off", destruction of entire cities, demanding inferior status for women, all the massacres etc etc. You can't just take the good things if you're advocating the Bible as a model of Morality and goodness, you have to take the _whole_ thing, or else rewrite it.
Don't like what I'm saying? Go ahead, give me the thumbs down, but if you haven't read the Book cover to cover, then you're just casting stones.

You're going to get a lot of answers about how the word of God never changes, and that through the Bible is the only way to heaven, yadda yadda.
Geez people rated my answer before I could finish it.. so quick..
You're on the right track. All religions fade away with time, it's just what happens. As soon as a dominant society falls, so too will it's religion. Makes you wonder if there is a right religion, which one is right? Most people today would never say that the Egyptians thoughts on the Gods were right, but they are so sure that the Christian God exists, just by faith. The Egyptians had faith.

Christianity just means believing in Christ.
As far as your belief, I am of the understanding that the God I believe in is the same God you believe in, just we have different ideas on how, or what he/she may do in our lives.
The only thing to change in 100 years is where does mankind stand today in relation to Gods plans.
We may seem more religious today because we feel the end of life as we know it is closer than 100 years ago.
Belief is a personal choice, with free will, and can only be judged by yourself, and your God as you understand.

not only christianity, all the religions, according to me are outdated. It is just the beliefs and most of the people are not ready to accept the truth. I believe that there is nothing called God and its no use worshiping. People should change their mindset.
I assure you that there is nothing wrong in believing what your grandmother or great grand mother believed in. Times are changing and
we must keep up with time.

You're absolutely right. Religion is just other people's interpretation of the existence (or non-existence) of a higher being. Take what you've learned and heard, put it through your own filters and form your own basis for belief. Religions are just a money machine or a way to influence and control people. We all need to break free of religion as a concept in order to stop the cycle of death and destruction caused by various religions over the history of humanity.
