Simply because it may make you very sick - throwing up sick! - which would mean that your body could not absorb the medication, but you would not be able to take it again without knowing how much you actually got in your system...

There is no risk of sudden death.. and it is mostly a matter of measure and reason. A sip or half a glass does not really interfere in my experience.

Antibiotics are alive, they are like mercenary soldiers put into your body on a search and destroy mission. They're fighting other invading soldiers who are trying to kill your body. Alcohol will kill the mercenaries trying to help you. If you want to win the battle you should be a good battlefield commander and follow the generals (eh - that'd be your doctor) orders.

It shouldn't matter unless you're using metronidazole, that can kill you if you mix with ethanol consumption becuase it is close in structure to antabuse. But it's only perscribed for mouth abcesses, gut infections and bladder bugs. Alcohol otherwise will only expidite the amount of the drug that leaves your body, mostly because ethanol is a diuretic.

You are drunk already.

If you are asking why there is no antibiotic in alcoholic drink, because the alcohol kills the antibiotics.
