The answer depends on your reason for asking the question.
If you want to follow a religion that is consistent with reality, and that has the truth about the universe, the bad news is that there aren't any. All gods are imaginary and all religions are false.
If you want a religion that is *least* absurd, then choose Deism - The sole belief in this religion is that an entity set the universe going but had no further involvement with it since then. You don't have to think up ridiculous excuses as to why prayers don't work, why people are free to do evil etc.
If you want a religion that is safe and cosy then probably Christianity is your best option. Human progress has shown so much of Christian belief and dogma to be false and immoral that now it's pretty much a feel-good religion, with only the "Let's be nice to everybody" bits left in.
If you want a religion that is rigid and gives you strict rules to live by, under threat of everlasting sadistic torture by its deity, then choose Islam.
Hope this helps...

Ever wondered why Christians never question their religion?
Because as soon as you question it, it all falls apart. The only people who know nothing about Christianity are Christians. If they did they wouldn't be Christians.
The concepts of Heaven and Hell were created by the early Christian church in order to control people.
If you must have a religion research it thoroughly past and present, before making up your mind.
I have done considerable research into Christianity and it's history my findings lead me to believe that the Christian Church is possibly the most EVIL organisation there has ever been.
I am not a religious person but if I had to choose it would be Buddhism

Zoom, seriously. No beer drinking religions (duh, look what it'll do for you).
I'm a Christian. I got saved at 8. Through everything a person can live, I may have strayed, but always came back.
When I re-dedicated my life to Christ at 26, He welcomed me back with tears of joy & open arms. I never felt like He had disowned me or was so upset that He'd punish me forever. I was welcomed into a wonderful church that has never turned its back on me & offers me areas of service so I know I'm doing something for the Lord. It's an overwhelming feeling.
I'd say read the Bible. If you're confused about Creation vs. Evolution (seems everyone is today), I'd say read Wycliffe. Between these two, you should find Jesus & all the answers you're looking for.
You don't become a Christian because you're afraid to go to Hell. You become a Christian because you're grateful that you were Created to begin with.
God bless you & keep you while you decide. I'll be praying for you.

First of all let's get things straight. Not all Christians go to heaven or Buddhists. And not all Non-Muslims go to hell. God loves everyone we agree? just because someone is eathiest that doesn't mean they go to hell. It's all depends on our sin. Just like on earth here. If we caught stilling a car wouldn't stay that much in jail. But if we committed a violent crime than probably longer.
Second thing, you need to acknowledge that there are many bad religions in the world as to the good ones. And in chosing the good one is hard indeed. A good religion is the religion that contains the word "Emptyness" as in the Buddhas law of Formed is emptyness, and emptyness is formed for more info about this law google it.

I don't understand why you are only thinking about the religion of 2 friends when you clearly have the internet to research many religions. Look at Judism, Jainis, Buddist and Hindu as the main world religions. There are also more polythesic religions than can be counted.
And everyone of them have a Dummies guide for sale at some chain bookstore. You have no excuse why you must accept you friends opinion as truth in this day and age of information abundance.

option 1: Christians say that you have to believe in Jesus to be saved.
option 2: Muslims say that you have to believe in God alone (and all the prophets including Jesus) to be saved.
option 3: Judaism is closed for buisness as you have to be born a jew (or accept being a second class one)
option 4: Hinduism says that you are born into a particular level and go up or down levels in your next birth depending on how you behave (unless you end up as a table or something similar and its difficult to be good or bad)
I think your muslim friend should read the Quran again because the only sin that will not be forgiven is associating partners with God or worshiping anything else ("Shirk"). Just calling yourself a muslim does not guarantee heaven or hell - sincerity is required!
Just pray to God for guidance.

you already have had enough answers. i would still say go through both Bible and Quran. Talk to their scholars. instead of just listening to what your friends say, at first see what you are getting into.
I will personally suggest you Islam because I am a Muslim and if i had the opportunity i would have explained why. Islam is logical and protective. Go through Quran and may be you will find it yourself.
Just make sure do not get mingled with any fanatics - Muslim or Christian. They will only misguide you.

No idea man.
Everyone say that God is one if God is one than how came there is so many religion. I'm Muslim. I believe on my religion. That's not true that christian/Muslim will go to hell. A true man will go to heaven.
Example if we follow Bible/Koran be a nice man, be a help full man than i think u can go to heaven.

i think that no one can tell you just read about the two religions and compare them and what makes you more satisfied with go for it
but be honest to your self don't go for religion because you loves your Muslim friend more than the other its your own problem
and if you just want heaven that will be more easier to you compare how much easier in every religion you can get to heaven
i am a Muslim and i want you to write to me if you need anything about Islam and i can get you translated books about Islam
