I am an athiest. Why do christians believe that the stries that they believe are so much better than the stories that other religions believe? What makes one better than the other? And what do you have against Islam?! it's basically the same religion !

Actually, the only big difference between Christianity and Islam is Jesus and the prophet muhammed. Their values and beliefs are extremely similar.

A main difference between the 2 is that Muslims do not beleive that Jesus Christ was in fact the son of God. Christianity is based entirely on Jesus. He is the foundation. As for Christians being ignorant, that is a complete and total steriotype. How would u feel if someone came up 2 u and said "Why r Athiests so stupid?" u would b really agree. However, If a Christian came at u saying that, they r not a true Christian. Like if I were 2 answer your question by calling u ignorant, it would b no better than u calling me ignorant. They r the people who say they r Christians who"talk the talk and don't walk the walk" so to speak. The point is, Islam and Christianity r different even though they were both derived from Judaism. In the BIBLE, Moses had 2 sons, Ishmael and Isaac,Ishmael was the son of 1 of his servants his wife told him to mess around with. But when his actual wife had a child, he gave Ishmael back 2 his mother. And God promised them that Ishmael's descendents would become a great nation as well. And that is where Islamic people came from. So please stop making false accusations about all Christians. We r still people u know.

The only ignorant Christian is the one who does not take the time to read the Holy Bible. God said "My people perish for lack of knowledge." Christianity is the only religion who has a risen Savior. All other religions' leaders have died and been buried. Jesus is the only One who God raised from the dead. You cannot change facts. You can change truth by twisting it like Satan did in the Garden. You can believe a lie if you want to. If you don't believe then how do you explain Earth and the planets and the stars and the moon and the grass and trees and flowers and birds and fish and water and clouds and you breathing?

I have never found Christians to be ignorant. Ignorance is someone asking a question like yours. Christians believe in more than stories. The true Christian experience is one of knowing that there is a God, that He has offered an incredible Gift to mankind through His Son, that He has sent His Spirit into their beings awakening in them His dimension of Life, that He has set an eternal Destiny upon them, and so much more. Christianity and Islam have nothing in common.

as a christian, i am not against islam in general, but what we are against is the HARDLINE/ LEFTIST ISLAM that encourages jihad and violence and hate. these islamic sects are so different from the mainstream muslims, who i personally know to be a very peaceful group.
it's not exactly the same as christianity, they have mohammad as their prophet, and we have jesus as our saviour. both islam and christianity practice worshipping one god, and we both share the same roots in judaism.
please do more research before you conclude such things unfairly. how would YOU feel if all of us god believers think that atheists don't have an idea between right and wrong just because you don't believe there is a god?

Christians believe that God is real and has been making himself known to all men in all cultures since the beginning of time. This is why ever culture has had some kind of religion or "god" and there are so many things the same between them - like a version of the "golden rule", etc. There is a real God out there revealing it.
But because of the complexity of God, no religion had ever gotten it all correct. They have seen pieces and chunks, like the story of the blind men who wanted to see an elephant. Each feel a part, and assumed that was the whole. So each religion as seen a part, but none the whole.
So it took an appearance by God himself in human form to make that complete relevation of himself. Tha man was Jesus Christ.
The Bible contains books written by over 40 authors across a period of 2000 years that contain a revelation of who God is. Unlike most religions, which came from a single revelation (Buddha, Mohammed, etc.), the Bible is a library that has been added to over millenium, and yet is consistant in it revelation, themes, images, and theology. Each book builds on the revelations contained in the books before it. Each book foreshadows - often with detailed prophecies - the revelations yet to come. It contains a variety of literature types including history, biographies, poetry, laws, collections of sayings and letters.
The 39 books of the Old Testament all point to the coming of a Messiah - an ultimate revelation of God himself. The Revelation was Jesus Christ. Take the time to look up the 22 Psalm. As we have copies of the Psalms in the Dead Sea Scroll and other sourced that pre-date the time of Christ, we know that Psalms 22 existed well before the coming of Christ. Compare it with the events recorded about his crucixion. It is eerie how accurate it is.
The 27 books of the New Testament complete the progressive revelation of God contained in the Bible. It includes three eye witness accounts of the life of Christ, a scholarly biography of Christ, a history of the early church, and a series of letters written by early Christian, including some of Jesus relatives (two of his brothers) and some of his original 12 disciples.
The first book of the New Testament, Matthew, records over 90 events in the life of Jesus that were predicted in the Old Testament and fullfilled by Him. In the book of Hebrew you will find a materful theological work showing the unity of the scriptures, how the events, themes and rituals of the Old Testament reach their fulfillment in the life of Christ. They show the unity and consistency of the library known as the Bible.
There are many other religious works, and many have similar themes and ideas to Christianity. Because there is a reality from which they all draw some truth. But the completeness of that truth is found in the person of Jesus Christ, who WAS God, come to reveal Himself to man.

It's nice that you care what Christians believe in and dwell on like ur life depends on it. Islam is a monstrous false religion and is no where compared to Christianity. Jesus is God. The word of God is true. You have issues for to attack those who you don't know. Now who's ignorant?

which branch of christianity are you talking about protestantism, catholicism, Calvinism, Mormons, JW's, Seventh day Adventists. It is a rather broad statement don't you think. Personally I am not ignorant of other peoples faiths I respect other people whether they are Islamic, Buddhist, Atheist, Agnostic, Jewish or Scientologist. I think it is natural to respect what another person believes in so long as it isn't bigotted or hatred inducing

It's all about faith and hope. Folks want something to believe in - some grounding for their actions - and hope of a reward for their best efforts. Why should that bother anybody?
If we were all as strong, confident, and assured of ourselves as you, we wouldn't need religion.
